Joey Rodriguez and Jamie Skeen will put an end to GMU's winning streak on national tv. The Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center will be filled
to capacity with the Rams prepare to set a record with their third
straight sellout. The game is a black out game for VCU. The school requested the students to don all black and be crazy because they need this win to win the CAA regular season championship.
Quote from Joey Rodriguez after losing to ODU and snapping their 22 game home winning streak “We still control our own destiny.”
He couldn’t be more right. VCU trails George Mason by a single game. If
the Rams win tonight, they move into a tie with the Patriots for first
place in the Colonial Athletic Association and would own the tiebreaker.
Basically, VCU would be in the driver’s seat for the remaining two CAA
games of the regular season.
While the CAA regular season “championship” isn’t much to hang your hat
on (the league only recognizes the CAA Tournament winner as the
conference champion), it does provide the best road to the CAA
Championship game. It also guarantees the school an automatic NIT bid,
which, while noone wants to talk about that now, isn’t a bad thing to
have.
Also perhaps more importantly than all that info, VCU has never lost back-to-back CAA home games in the Siegel Center Era (since 1999-2000).
2nd: St. Johns +6.5 and ml +220
Last year, Marquette won 63-61 on Feb. 24, 2010, in Carnesecca Arena,
and also claimed a 57-55 win on March 10, 2010, in the second round of
BIG EAST Tournament.
St. Johns seniors are 0-5 against Marquette and 0-1 on Marquett's home floor. However, this is a new team. Same players but a new confidence that Coach Lavin has instilled in this team. This group of players feel that they can beat anyone at anytime and want to change the legacy of the past 3 years and leave St. Johns with a fantastic senior season that their fans will never forget. They have already accomplished things that they have never done before and beating Marquette for the 1st time will add to that list.
However, I dont like the look ahead spot to Pitt on Sat. at the garden at all but I just think this team is destined to get off the Marquette snide and finally beat them. Also I will be placing more on the points as you can see the two times they played last year were very close games and St. Johns did not have the confidence as they do now to finish off games last year.
I wish all my covers brothers the best of luck tonight

It is the best game of the night. I'm on the other side but it should be very entertaining. The one thing that bothers me about backing George Mason is the fact that VCU hasn't lost back to back in the Siegel Center. That is scary good but this Mason team is tough.

This Mason team is good but also lost at Dayton, ODU and Hofstra. They will also lose tonight
