Florida +2 - This is a very good Florida team, yet one that is beatable if the right match up presents itself. Well in this one, Marquette simply isn't the right match up. Florida comes into this contest with the 3rd most efficient offense in the country and most of that is due to perimeter play, which is the bread and butter of this Gators team. The team is led by the guard trio of Kenny Boynton, Bradley Beal, and Erving Walker all of which are extremely efficient offense players, pretty much exactly what you'd expect from the 3rd most efficient offense in the land. No surprise there. Here's however where things get even better for the Gators. The only real big men of any value for Florida are Patric Young and Will Murphy. Young is a bit of a banger, but Murphy is a guard trapped in the body of a 6'10'' player. He loves to play on the perimeter and can really stroke it from 3 point land. Frankly I don't see Marquette really having an answer for either of these players. The only player with bulk to keep Young off the glass and from doing whatever he wants down low is Davonte Gardner. Gardner's a decent player but has no stamina and can't log more than 4-5 minutes at a time. Crowder has some bulk but he's only 6'6'' and that's a listed 6'6'', i'm thinking he's closer to 6'4''. To put it even more simply the way you beat this Gators team is down low, and Marquette simply doesn't have the personnel to do that. The Gators are better on the perimeter, they'll have the best big man on the court (Young) and an X-Factor in Murphy as a 6'10'' man who can stretch the defense and knock down the 3 ball. To wrap things up i'll touch on Marquette's two best players. Darius Johnson Odom and Jay Crowder. These guys are head and shoulders the best players on this team and tonight each will meet a far less than ideal match up. Johnson-Odom i'd assume most of the night will be shadowed by Freshman standout and future 1st round NBA pick Bradley Beal. Beal has every bit the length, athleticism, skill, and talent that Odom does... and then some. Now lets move onto Crowder he's the closest thing Marquette has to a scoring threat down low. I say that because he's also got a nice perimeter game and can knock down mid range shots and is respectable from three point land as well. I think for Crowder to shine tonight he'll have to take his game outside. 16-18 footers and 3 point attempts will be there if he wants them, but anything he tries down low will likely be against Patric Young. To put it frankly Young is bigger, stronger, longer and tougher than Crowder. I just can't see Crowder getting much done inside of 10 feet tonight. Put it all together and I strongly feel the wrong team is favored here. I could go on a little more but I think I've touched on enough to make it clear why I'm on the Gators.

Nice write up but I disagree on quite a few points. First off Crowder has played against way bigger big men than Young in the Big east, and shined (big east player of the year). Even though both teams play a guard oriented style, Marq guards are longer and not as dependent on the 3. Jamil Wilson is no pushover and I think the x factor in this game. Whichever teams hits their outside shots (which sounds obvious but more important to Florida) will win this game. I watched Florida plenty this year against (rutgers, tenn twice, Kent, Vandy etc) and they are not mentally tough they had the much easier path to get here and are in for a dogfight tonight.. I am a huge college basketball fan and do best in the big east, alot of teams were overrated in the conference but this is not one of them. Not sure of my play because i think the game should have been a pick'em and seedings don't really matter at this point but gun to my head i take marquette. Syracuse and Mich State are the 2 plays tonight and no plays in the other 2 games for me.

Marq has a great steroid dealer... JK - marq will kill the paint and boards - toughness and want to goes a long ways. Sir Charles was 6'4 and led the league in boards..

They destroyed opponents last two games and have got nothing to lose vs Marquette....not to mention after last seasons failure they should be motivated (at least the coaching staff)

Been leaning Florida, this write up swayed me....
MOST IMPORTANT THING FLORIDA HAS:
CONFIDENCE

As a athlete its hard to get up for great teams and match their intensity when you are coming off an easy game - uf is coming off 2 easy games. marq = battle tested!!!!

Wisconsin +4 - Will gladly take 4 points here in a game I expect Wisconsin to win straight up. This game should be a snail paced and dominated by defense. Not sure I can see either team breaking 65 unless there's a foul fest late or overtime. In a slow down grind it out type of game like that Wisconsin shines. Syracuse plays a little on the slow side, but nothing what Bo Ryan will try and force on them tonight. I suspect Boeheim might try and implement the press from time to time in an attempt to speed Wisconsin up and/or turn them over. If they do... good luck. Wisconsin is almost impossible to speed up and they have the 2nd best turnover rate in the country. This is smart, well coached, fundamentally sound team that won't be taken out of their game should Cuse try the press. Now that's that been addressed lets size up this Wisconsin offense against the Cuse zone. Yes the Orange zone is long, quick, and active as always, however Wisconsin has the weapons to beat it. Or at least beat it often enough to win. With Taylor, Berggren, Gasser, Brust and Wilson the Badgers have plenty of 3 point weapons which i'm sure most of you know is exactly what a zone defense doesn't want to see. Wisconsin as I've mentioned plays damn near the slowest of any team in the nation and they do so very very intelligently which is even more critical against the zone they'll see most of tonight. I expect them to work the ball around, make that Cuse D work for 25-30 seconds each possession and then end up with a quality look more often than not. As far as Syracuse goes there's no point for me to sit here and try and pick them apart. They're a good team, without any glaring weaknesses. I just feel tonight they've met their match.

You don't think Florida is going to be able to "get up" for a Sweet 16 game?
