Like the play but a little worried because WIU is on the road. This team rarely gives into the pace the other team plays but tonight I am worried. SDST is gonna want to get WIU up and down and WIU gonna want to play a half court game. If this game turns into a track meet its over. Any insight on this play? Do you feel WIU can slow the game down a little and stay within the number? They have the defender to guard Nate Wolters, in Clark III and last time out only lost by 1. Sorry may have convinced myself into a play on WIU.
Thanks JFen appreciate all u do
I've only seen SDSU twice and Western Illinois once, so my knowledge on these teams is cursory at best. Still, there's three reasons to really like this play. South Dakota State is locked in to the #2 spot in the Summit League tournament behind Oral Roberts. There's little reason to be up for this game, especially after destroying Buffalo in the BracketBusters matchup in the program's first-ever nationally televised game. Also, as you mentioned, Western Illinois can slowwww the game down with the nation's 2nd slowest tempo. South Dakota State is lethal in transition and made Buffalo's above-average defense look pathetic in the second half. WIU must slow the game to a crawl to stick around. As we all know, conference games are a whole different animal, especially the second time around. The Leathernecks (crazy name, eh?) are also prolific shooters from deep, which is a potential recipe for trouble if SDSU doesn't bring its full focus and attention.
I may be way off here, but it's a play I have to make given the circumstances.

So is Western Ill South Dakota St. the defense verses offense and they way they played the last game shooting almost 50% and defending 38%? I still think Wisc will score over 70 against Iowa with Iowa still having plenty of opportunities to score. Like that Wisc shot well last game as Iowa is terrible defensively and dont see how Wisc would want to even slow the game down with so many opportunies to score. I do like your Wisc play as they started the season shooting aweful 4 of first 5 games and are now getting ready for the good stuff.
Yep, very similar games.
I do like the Wisconsin/Iowa over upon further thought. Taylor isn't afraid to assert himself when the opportunities are available. Iowa doesn't rely all that much on the three, which Wisconsin obviously moves taking away. Gatens has been on fire as of late and will probably attract the bulk of Wisconsin's attention..

I agree. I had to take WIU after looking into it. They have done a pretty successful job this season controlling the pace, and dont see why they dont do a decent job tonight. Plus with the defense Clark can play hopefully this takes Wolters out of the game somewhat. Either its a tight game or WIU gets blown out of the building. Will take my chances as u mentioned SDST is playing for nothing.

Nothing on Bama/Arkansas. Line is short given the personnel missing from Bama and Arkansas' very well-documented home success (sans the Florida debacle). Like the Hogs' press against Bama's guards, but even a depleted Bama frontcourt is going to give Arkansas some issues.
