Hit my only 2-unit play on TCU but otherwise another bad night. Approach with caution...
I posted this last night in my 2/1 thread:
Marist +16 @ Manhattan (1 unit)
If
these Manhattan kids are focused ahead of the massive game with Iona,
all the power to 'em. But all of this hoopla is a completely new
experience. A sellout crowd in Riverdale? None of the current players
have seen their own gym packed to the brim like it will be for
Saturday's game, which is expected to be sold out. I like Marist's
attitude heading into this one...

-Absolutely GREAT spot to fade Old Dominion
less than 48 hours before its massive game @ George Mason on Saturday.
The Patriots' loss drops them to 10-2, meaning the Monarchs are just a
half-game behind. Sure, ODU wants a win to pull into a tie, but there's
also a good chance they overlook their current opponent. Only problem
is, I get the feeling James Madison may have quit on the season. Probably a no-play.
-How does Middle Tennessee
respond after playing Vanderbilt to a draw in Nashville for about 38
minutes on Saturday? That game was HUGE for the Blue Raiders, but will
they still be hungover? Good chance they overlook North Texas, a
team which has been dynamite at home ever since Tony Mitchell joined
the squad and MTSU has a look-ahead to Denver on Saturday. Classic
sandwich game and 6 seems realllly heavy here. Likely play on the Mean
Green.
-Florida has Vandy on-deck Saturday in a major SEC clash, followed by Kentucky a few days later. The Gators dispatched South Carolina
rather easily in Columbia just a few weeks ago, so I doubt the focus is
at an optimum level for Billy Donovan's team. It would take some balls
to play South Carolina here but I do think they are the correct side.
-Speaking of the Sun Belt, there's another good game taking place as Denver travels to Lafayette.
As mentioned above, Denver gets undefeated Middle Tennessee State at
home on Saturday. I wouldn't be thrilled about playing Denver off a
loss, but this Cajuns team is awfully tough at home. ULL or nothing.
-Oregon State gets its first taste of altitude as it travels to Boulder to face Colorado.
The Buffs haven't dropped a game at the Coors Center since early
December and OSU brought its "A" game to Eugene on Sunday in knocking
off hated rival Oregon. Does it bring a comparable level of intensity
into a second consecutive road game? Doubt it. Strong lean to CU.
-You likely won't find a more desperate team on the entire card than BYU,
which has inexplicably dropped consecutive home games for the first
time in several years. The Cougs' at-large hopes are dissipating by the
day and a win over Gonzaga is
pretty much required at this point to remain in the conversation. The
urgency will probably be there, but will it be enough? Think so.
-Samford goes into App. State after
splitting consecutive home games against the two titans of the SOCON,
Davidson and Charleston. The Bulldogs narrowly lost to Appy several
weeks ago in a tight game throughout, but are they going to be ready for
a revenge opportunity after playing the league's two most recognizable
names at home? ASU has been awful as a favorite in recent years and has
COC at home on Saturday. Stay-away game.
-Speaking of great spots, how about Manhattan taking on Marist
two days before a home game with Iona that will determine sole
possession of first place in the MAAC? The Jaspers just beat Marist 12
days ago in Poughkeepsie. Will there be enough focus to cover 16 in a
very quick turnaround game and Iona lying in wait? Doubt it.

Good Luck JFen!! I follow your writeups all the time. I would suggest to tread lightly with Marist. I live in the area and they have gone down hill since December.

Understand the lookahead on Manhattan(biggest game for them in years) but it is a bad combination of Marist's poor offense and Manhattan' excellent defense. Game could get out of hand quickly. Massielo will play 10-11 guys, and they will press all game as they are in very good shape. Good luck

Marist is terrible. No doubt about it. I just can't pass up a spot like this, though, especially when dealing with a young Manhattan team unaccustomed to this level of success.
This team had single-digit wins in the past two seasons. Now they're a legit threat to make an NCAA appearance. Massiello HAS to be the runaway Coach of the Year in the MAAC and should get some national votes, as well.
Manhattan's style is largely based on effort (rebounding, pressing/trapping). If the effort isn't fully there, but style becomes ineffective. This was a tough bet to make, so yeah, a blowout is certainly a possibility.

The two Sun Belt games you mentioned is where I have spent most of my time last night and this morning. I love both spots for the home team. I was ready to pull the trigger on LA Lafayette but there inability to take care of the ball has probably made it a no play...probably. I will say that the North Texas play intrigues the hell out of me. I am looking deeper right now and will likely take the 6 points at home.

I've been a Blue Raider supporter this year, but not touching it tonight.
Agreed. Some of their recent Sun Belt lines have become inflated and now they're starting to become every team's Super Bowl. Plus, I wouldn't say MTSU is built to run teams out of the building.

The Denver-ULL game is great from a situational perspective but the clashing styles makes it somewhat unpredictable. Denver wants to run its Princeton offense and walk the ball up the court; ULL is a run-and-gun squad. The good thing about ULL's defense, though, is that it is really good at defending the perimeter, which is where Denver gets most of its points. Plus, both teams are night-and-day in road/home games.

As you have mentioned these are two great 'spots'. You are dead on about ULL's strength in defending the perimeter. I think they are both worth a UNIT play.

Great call last night on TCU! I also hit the ml for a unit.
Tough break on St. Louis. Can't cover first half after strong start, but then go on to cover FG. I split a unit on 1st half and FG after getting burned like this the first 3 times I took a first half this season. Any thought of doing this yourself when you are leaning 1H strong? I know your thought process in taking the 1H, but I have seen it backfire so many times just to go on and cover the FG.
Illinois St. was a gutsy play and I commend you for making it. I like the match-up, but Illinois St. in a look ahead with rival Bradley Saturday kept me from pulling the trigger If it's possible to overlook the #12 team in the country? Who knows, if they played again tonight they may cover the +11. Creighton was on fire!
BOL tonight!

like SC 1H. I think they come out of the gate strong and hang with a less motivated Florida team but would not be surprised if the Gators step on the pedal in the 2H and win convincingly.

Something to think about for the Florida/SC game. I hear you about Florida thinking about their match-up Saturday against Vandy, but South Carolina has Kentucky coming into town Saturday as well. So, this is an interesting spot for both. I'll probably lay off this one.
