The odds makers are obviously aware of the AYO situation and they opened the line at -6.5. Most of the bettors who voiced their concern in this thread about him playing tonight are thinking that Penn State will blow out Illi. Yes, that can happen, anything can happen but the whole AYO situation has ALREADY BEEN PRICED INTO THE OPENING LINE. Just think of the opening line of -6.5 WITHOUT AYO PLAYING. Odds makers are essentially saying that WITHOUT AYO for Illini, Illini "should" keep it within 6.5. Keyword being "SHOULD.."

This is what I always think through with key players who area game time decision along with the opening line and line movement throughout the day. Like I said before in a recent post:

IF AYO plays >>> Line GOES DOWN

IF AYO dosen't play >> Line stays the same or moves lightly up

IF we were immortal gods/deities that had mastery over space/time/biology and replayed this scenario a million times. Illi SHOULD keep it within exactly 6-7, 50% of the time. Now there will be times where Penn State or even Illinois blows out each other out but overall, Illi SHOULD keep it within 6-7 even without their starting player..

also you are correct.   Oddsmakers are fully aware that Ayo is playing or at the very least expect him to play and thus made the line at 6.5.  If they knew he was out that line would open at 8.      This who game time decision stuff is bullshit.  The coach and player already know whether the kid is playing or not.  In fact everyone knows.    Except the public!!
