I dont really think Mack is employing a new system at Xavier. He was the assistant coach so the players know him well. Should be the same style Xavier team as far as Ive heard...I dont think too much changes. Youngstown state is going to have trouble scoring IMO...

Units are going up today. Lets get this season rolling officially. I see these lines moving so its time to start putting them in. If I add anything it will not be until closer to tip.
PU -19.5 (5U)
Alright
This will be a for sure public play. But like most college sports it is
typically very beneficial to lay the chalk early. PU is a very talented
bunch and surprisingly very healthy to begin the season. They have 3
guys that could win the the Big Ten Player of the year award in Hummel,
Johnson, and Moore. All 3 potential NBA prospects and to go deep in
March you need players like this.
PU
biggest downfall last season was rebounding and surprisingly defense.
Teams that like extend the shot clock is where PU struggled. Against
the uptempo style teams is really where PU excelled. Painter has made
it a vocal point this off-season to set the tone defensively and
rebounding. I expect these 2 things to show tremendously tomorrow night
in the home opener against a much smaller CALN. Remember the name DJ
Byrd.
I
got to watch this kid a few times last year and this kid is going to
provide a much need spark off the bench for PU. This kid can flat out
shoot the ball from deep. I expect a lot of attention to be drawn to
the big 3 and this kid should have a lot of open looks this year to
really stretch a defense.
As
for CALN they are a uptempo style team and they will push the pace.
Hint Hint PU vs BAY in 2007 and vs WASH in 2008. Now they going against
a shitty conference school cant imagine how ugly this one will get.
CALN is small and crafty defensively but PU IQ in all aspects will be
too much. CALN traveling cross country will not help for this one
either.

thing that concerns me is the look ahead to the Virgin Islands. If your
a top ten team and and have set the bar high to be in your hometown
state come March vying for a championship there is no look a heads in
these type of situations. They have to take care of business and I
expect my main man Kramer that right not the big 3 to set the intensity
for this one. This has 30 point blow out written all over it.
BALL ST -1.5 (10U)
In recent years before heading to play UNC. VALPO has been steam rolled by and AVG of 10 points I believe. This also the first time VALPO has hit the road to open there season since the 2006 season. Along with all of this VALPO has 4 players that returned and the rest of the team is loaded with freshman and sophomores.
This is enticing me even more to this games. I watched my Sycamores beat up on University of Indianapolis in a exhibition game and U of I really had a hard time scoring the ball against IND ST. U of I is not a good ball club as it is and VALPO allowed them to drop 88 on them! It shows me how bad this D is or how bad this team is with new comers. It will take time for them to gel.
The biggest key for Ball St is they will have to contain McPherson. You shut him down then the scoring becomes limited. He will have a harder time distributing the ball to Little or Rogers if this is the case. VALPO is also a very undersized team with a lot of questions rebounding the ball.
This is where BALL ST will exploit this team. With the size and talent they have in Jones and Perry. Surprisingly Perry is only 6'4" but his strength and quickness along with a 235 lb frame he can guard anyone on the floor. Remember this name Terrance Watson. He should have a monster game tonight. Played at OLE MISS for a season before transferring out to a JUCO where they won a National Championship there. He should be a huge impact for this team with his ability to defend and attack the basket.
This should be a good game all the way through but give me the home team that is better defensivly who held opponents to just under 60 points per game last season and rebounding. Limit McPherson and this is a easy winner. The home team in this series has dominated in recent history. Once again the look ahead should be in full swing for Valpo. BALL ST is also 10-2 in home openers the last 12.
BALL ST has also won 69 percent of its home game lifetime!
KU -27 (5U)
Is
there really need to explain anything on this one. If you follow
college ball you already know what this team has. I am becoming very
attracted to this Henry kid and what he will provide. Remember Self has
yet to have a team this deep and something to work with on the wings
since the last title team. This team is going to be fun to watch. This
number is not high enough for a focused and talented team.
Just wanted to touch on this real quick. If Hofstra won there conf. they would be a 16 seed IMO. Now were not playing on a neutral floor I JUST cant imagine how ugly this is going to get. Teams Like KU will come out and set the tone and send a message to who and what they are. I dont care if there playing the blind they will not let up in this one. The depth just isnt there for Hofstra if they do keep it close for half this KU team will explode in the 2nd half. Not to mention Hofstra was one of the worst teams assist to turnover ration last season.
Other 2 I am looking at but want to watch the lines along with anything else I add...

This is a team that has brought back a lot from last season. This is also team that is very dangerous on any given night with there ability to score. I like this for the fact this is Niagaras biggest out of conference game of the season.
This team is led by the four returnees in Tyron Lewis, Bilal Benn, Rob Garrison, and Anthony Nelson. Niagara also has the depth and shooters to spark this team. What I like even more is there ability to get out in the passing lanes and create turnovers. Lewis and Benn have a knack at doing that by being in the top 20 in the country last in steals.
What is keeping off this game at this point is the lack of experience in the paint. If Niagara's youthful big men can step up tonight Niagara will win this game. I think this game will solely rely on them how they can defend and hit the glass. These back courts from each side will be fierce with each other as Reed and Waller for Auburn are no slouches.
Another area that concerns me which will really hurt me betting on Niagara last season was there ability to go on long scoring droughts. You can't do that against a SEC. They will make you pay in a hurry and if that's the case Niagara has no chance. I expect though 40 minutes of intense basketball tonight against one of the biggest out of conf schools from Niagara. They should leave everything on the floor and I think the 4 studs from Niagara wont let this one slip away. This might be the strongest ML play today for a dog if they can run for 40 minutes.

Yes and I am going to be honest with you I dont believe in Sargin rankings. I think its smoke and mirrors. I will give you best example I can. No offense to DoubleUp as I believe he uses this and it works great from the middle of the season and on. If you notice he uses something like this and struggles almost every season at the beginning of each season. Just something I have picked up on.
