I wanted to fade Oregon State yet again, but I've been murdered when doing that this year. I am still missing something that I just don't know about and I'm undervaluing them terribly. I made them a -3 here. Here is my projected's on Oregon State this year with the real line.

PK Hofstra (real line -10)
+12 Texas (real line +7)
+3 Montana (real line +11)
+6 Idaho (real line +13)

I'm clearly missing something, and until I have time to sit down and take a look at why or what, I'm off them for a while.

As for the Rider game, I'm off of them too. Tonight might be a game where they show some effort going against a big name school, but they're probably the most disappointing team in the country so far next to Austin Peay. It's one thing to be bad at defense but still give effort. This Rider team is bad on defense and just doesn't look like it's a team that cares at this point. Probably some value in Rider (I lined game at -18, -19 start of year), but more an issue of trusting the effort.

Siena hasn't played Iona yet this year. Aside from that, they're a tough team to figure out and a team lacking some scoring. They should have more opportunities to put the ball in the bucket tonight as it's really the first team on their schedule that wants to play their up and down style. Might get a bit fatigued, though. Umass defense has been really good as of late, and somewhat surprising considering how fast they have played as the two generally don't go hand in hand successfully. 

The game isn't being played on the Umass home court, but it's still basically a home game. (ODU/Fairfield also being played here tonight). I didn't see any reason to take a stab here and not sure you get the best Siena has to offer either with Fairfield getting an up and close view in the building.

It looks like Cartwright is doubtful. I, personally think it's a rough spot for Iowa leaving UNI playing a rare style and jumping into another tough style with Hoiberg's ISU squad. Looking at the PG situation here, I haven't seen much of Iowa yet this year, but I'm not sure you are better off with Cartwright in the lineup. Marble has less experience but in about the same amount of minutes this year, his assist rate is just as good, he turns the ball over on only 8% of his touches comapred to Cartwright's 19% (WHICH IS REALLY GOOD FOR A PG), his defense is better in terms of steal %, and he shoots it better. It looks like the only thing Marble doesn't do better is that he fouls too much where Cartwright hardly fouls anyone, but then again, it's sort of a stat indicative of how well you defend or how well you pressure the ball.

Probably spot on at 128-130 range. 

Under Pros: Flat spot for Richmond, rivalry game, good defenses, taking away Anthony's points w/ Weber b/c VCU offensive liability

Over Pros: Flat spot for Richmond speeds up pace, VCU familiarity against defenses, rivalry game speeds pace from the tip, youth

First thought is it should be a nice defensive battle, but Fairfield's defense hasn't looked as good as in past years and it seems like they have put a greater focus on the offense this year. Probably side with Colorado but I've seen a bit of Wyoming this year and this defense is legit. Shyatt prepares extremely well and takes you out of whatever offensive set you want to run. In the few games that I have watched this year, the only time that teams could score was on isolation plays beating someone off the dribble and towards the end of a shot clock by throwing up a prayer. Granted, they haven't really played anybody, but this defensive scheme will take even a good offense out of it's game if it doesn't have the right weapons.

And that's my scare with Colorado. They have a nice advantage on the inside, and that will help, but they don't really have anyone that can break you down and beat you off the dribble to open up other things. This offense focuses on ball movement and getting the open shot when it doesn't go on the inside.

Weird matchup of above average offense against really good defense. A little concerning with Wyoming hitting the road for just the second time after the ugly first road game (Wisky GB), but that game was just ugly all around on both sides of the ball.

I'm a bit weary now that I see Brandon Lang on VCU as well. Only a 10 unit play though.

Another solid write up.

Hard to say which way this one could go. Like you said about last years game, VCU shot atrociously from the 3 and if that happens again tonight, its going to come down to the wire. I'm laying off this one, but wish you the best!

good writeup

I have attended a richmnd/VCU game before and these always have a very odd feel and flow to the game.... Alot of bad possessions and turnovers are guaranteed to litter the 2H

First time this year I am on the opposite side of you... 

Bodes well for your play..

I'm takin Rider +27... I've seen Florida play 3 times this year, and at no point have I come to the conclusion that they have any actual plan on offense.  They just meander around the 3-point line until a shot presents itself, and if they miss, hope for a Pat Young putback... This team's full of players who think they're way better than they actually are (can they top 70 points if they don't hit double-digit treys?), and in a sandwich game like this (in between AZ and A&M), they're due for a letdown.

Also, Boynton and Walker both played 38 minutes the other night, and Wilbekin is supposedly sittin this one out with an injury, so guard depth could be an issue for Florida.
