This forum is perfect for all you Duke haters.  How are they overrated when they are easily one of the top 4 teams in the Nation?  I keep reading people's posts about losing at Georgetown.  Every team has fluke games.  Gtown lost to Rutgers and South Florida.  The reason they haven't covered as much lately is because Coach K likes to slow it down and eat clock with a lead in the last 8 minutes.  There aren't many teams with 3 players as good as Singler, Scheyer and Smith.

This guy nness is making me laugh.  Love those uneducated fans, who really have no clue what they're talking about.  Jealousy is ugly guys.  Duke is the best program in college basketball over the last 20 years.  Look at the total wins since 1990.

If Zoubek continues to play well they have a good as chance as anyone. For anyone to say they are overrated is a complete moron. If anyone was overrated it was Uconn and UNC.

And by the way, to all you dummies who say they cant win on the road. Almost every team in the nation losses are on the road. The majority anyway.

Well said AlexEnglish...Duke is anything but overrated.  Haven't you learned through the years that people hate Duke because of envy.  And when I hear all these people talking about how Duke gets all the calls, it shows me that they haven't watched many Duke games in the last several years.  If anything, refs are aware of that sterotype and try to overcompensate the other way.  I mean, did you see the first half of the Miami game?  Give me a break with some of these posts.

I wouldn't say they are overrated. I agree that Syracuse should be the 3rd #1 seed though. Duke won the ACC regular season and tournament championship. I know it's a "down" year, but the ACC is still considered one of the elite conferences. They finished the year with a 29-5 record and went 13-3 in ACC play. They have 3 really good players in Scheyer, Singler and Smith. Their post players have been playing really well as of late. The Plumlee brothers have emerged and Zoubek and been really good defensively and rebounding the basketball. They finished 29-5 with one of the toughest schedules. Besides Duke, you could argue that Ohio State and WVU are worthy of #1 seeds. All 3 of them can make their case, but when it comes to television ratings and making money, you have to put Duke as the #1 seed. Now, if we were talking college football, of course Ohio St. or WVU would get the nod over the Blue Devils.

Osirus-  Is Puke the #3 team in the nation in your opinion? (Their Seed)

That means you think they would beat Cuse, WVU and Ohio ST.

I do not think they are. Thus, I think they are overrated.

If you don't, we will agree to disagree.

I love that  laettner AS reserve status was brought up. Great work AE

You're talking like having homecourt advantage is a birthright.  There's a reason they're so good at home.  Are they supposed to go out and NOT try to win at home?  You're an idiot.  I bet you wish your team had that much LACK of talent.

Yep i'm an uneducated fan, look at their road record this year and get back to me on the facts. Like I said keep betting on them away from home and keep paying the man.  Also, when you get handed easy wins and favorable calls at home, it makes you think you're better than you are, and when you go on the road you're not mentally prepared to play in a hostile environment.  If you ever played the game you might understand this, look at the only quality win they had on the road this year at Clemson.  Why did they win that game and struggle so much with other road games was that it was a rematch of a game they got killed the year before and were mentally prepared to go into a hostile environment and win.  They are overconfident from their fradulant wins they get at home and when they go on the road they're not prepared.  Tell me i don't know what i'm talking about but you are wrong.  Look at the truly great Duke teams in the early 90's and 2001 they were teams that were mentally tough and always ready to play, unlike crybaby Scheyer and overrated Singler.  Hope they get to play WVU cause those boys will send Duke and their tough frontline home with their tails between their legs.  Bottom line Duke is not mentally tough enough to win outside of Cameron, and if I remember a teams mentality comes from the coach, so you do the math.  Can't wait to see a truly tough team like WVU to bang these guys around to they say uncle. LOL

Bracks - can you honestly say Duke gets all the calls?  If you say yes, I know you either haven't watched them much or you're just saying it to prove your point.  It's just a stereotype.

I love that  laettner AS reserve status was brought up. Great work AE

You  have a point with the 3rd best team in the country thing but  i think they are 4th or at worst 5th which says the number 1 seed is ok. People will say duke is overrated if they are ranked 14th. They hate them. They were probably overrated in 2001 when they were loaded. They are about where they should be. I think the reason they jumped syracuse was that they finished stronger and won the conf tourney and syracuse didnt. Duke could still beat anyteam on any given day.

Duke has the huge homecourt edge from what they have done over the years and respect for Coach K, not just the way they're playing.  If you watch them play at home they can do whatever they want physically and not get called for it.  If you don't think so go watch the games against Tulsa and VT, they were fouling and running into them all game with no calls, they would touch the Duke players and get a foul called.  At one point a 2 players from Tulsa just looked at each other and started laughing after one of these calls.  By the way my team in Ohio St., and we do have the best player in the country and you seen what happens when you're sissy Duke team came to the heartland to play Wisconsin, they beat em up and sent em home.  By the way Wisky finished 4th in our league. LOL. Talent. LOL

This is the most underrated Duke team ever.  We tend to over analyze this team every year; take it for what it's worth, a number one seed, and deservedly so.  They'll get out of their bracket.

They are a #2 seed period, the ACC was weak all year and they lost most of the big games on the road.  WVU should have got the #1 seed, but it doesn't matter it'll just fuel their fire when/if they play the Dukies in the tourney.  By the way Maryland finished 2nd in the ACC this year, what a joke! LOL

Duke wasn't as strong on the road, but tell me a team who is.  It's not easy playing at Wisconsin or Georgetown.  They lost at GTech which is nothing to be ashamed of.  What was Duke's record at neutral sites this year, including the ACC tourney?  Yea, they were undefeated.  What do you think the NCAA tourney games are...neutral courts.  So you can use your argument that they're not as good on the road, but it's not exactly breaking news.  And West Virginia is a nice team, but they're not on a top team.  They got hot at the right time and won the Big East Tourney and the Butler had a little luck down the stretch.  They can't score with the big guys though. It's funny you say "if I ever played the game", considering I played my entire life through high school and then played D1 baseball in college and I would pretty much guarantee I am both more knowledgeable and talented than you are.  You should really spend less time hating Duke, it's not healthy.

Everyone on here played Division 1 ball, didn't you know that.  Instead of telling me how great a ballplayer you used to be, why don't you just retire you're old gear and pick up a new sport.  Either way i'm sure you almost made it to the NBA etc, etc, if you're a Duke fan i'm sure a couple of strategic elbows would take you out of your game real quick! LOL

Yes, if the 3's are going down and their D is on, they could be all 3 of those teams.

    However,

5-5 on the road, and #1 season and Tourney champs in ACC is not more impressive than #1 in BE reg season or #2 on season and winning BE tourney. Or how OSU played w/ Turner all yr and played down the end.

Thats all. Cuse should have been #3, and I think WVU or OSU was still ahead, at least even with.

I agree that they should be the #1 seed because they won the ACC regular season and tourney title, just saying that the ACC was way down this year and can't compare them to the Big East or Big 10, those leagues are way more physical and have more talent at the top of the conference.

Trust me id rather have cuse and duke switched and syracuse did have a better overall year but i guess they just took the injury and conf tourney into consideration.

I said I played D1 baseball...I'm sure you have trouble reading sometimes from the sound of your posts.  I never thought I could make it to the NBA, that's why I played baseball in college, not basketball.  I'm sure you were that kid who was always hanging around the court growing up and had a love for the game, but never had enough talent to cut it.

Sitting in on the selection comittee during this process would be one of my top 5 sporting  events (hardly an event i know) that id like to attend. I just want to hear whats discussed and see what numbers and everything they are looking at. I would also be posting on covers while i was in there.

Zoop- I would never say "always" but its not just a stereotype.

And on those "neutral courts" I don't count MSG as that vs. ASU. Maybe vs. UCONN. I was at both of those and watched it live. Disgusting.

Osirus- Yeah, its the "what if " factor, but its just horrible they are in front of both BE teams. And I am an ACC guy.
