What does Tennesse losing to Texas have to do with anything ? You are talking about one game. Do you really think that Texas is 19 points better than Tenn ?? This was also not a home game for either team as it was a tourney game in New Jersey. Tennessee went to Xavier and won, won at Gonzaga, Beat West Va, and beat Memphis at Memphis. Tenn is a good team and could beat all teams in the Big East, PAC 10, and Big 12...Not saying they would beat them all every game but they could beat every team in the country.

 

So I guess since Memphis plays in a weak conference, they are no good either ??

Ok..here are a few.

They have 2 awful losses at home in G-Webb and San Diego.

They have zero road wins against top 50 RPI.

They went 5-10 vs top 100 RPI.

They only have 2 signature wins(Tenn and Vandy)..and Vandy returned the favor with a 40 point drubbing.

Yes...they have gone 9-3 in their last 12. But, who have they played in those last 12? Georgia 3 times, Vandy, Arkansas, Tenn, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, SC, and Florida. Arkansas is the only decent team on there, that they beat. And that was at home.

And of course, the whole Patterson thing.

There are several reasons they might not make it. Doesn't mean they won't make it. But, trust me..there are plenty of reasons.

     All these people detracting Kentucky's resume, I'd love to see a list of the 34 better at-large teams that are more deserving.  A 12-4 record in any conference, albeit a "down" SEC, should garner consideration for a bid, despite the poor non-conference start.  It's also convenient that the SEC ranks higher than the Big East and the Big Ten in conference RPI, but the SEC is the only conference constantly considered inferior.  Granted the Big East is more top-heavy, it must be nice to be able pad a conference record with juggernauts like Rutgers, Depaul, St. Johns, and South Florida, all of whom have LOSING records at home.  The only teams from the SEC that could possible be lumped in with these cupcakes are Auburn and South Carolina, and even these two teams are capable of shooting their way to a win.
     To discuss the injury issue that so many are addressing, a big question to Kentucky's tournament hopes rested on how they would react to Patterson going down for the season.  I'd say taking a Tennessee team that everyone, including the media, was high on after knocking off Memphis, to the wire a day after losing your best player says something about the capabilities of a team.  Then winning the next 3 conference games probably means though, we'll just revert back to the non-conference losses again because that's the only leg you can stand on.  If you want to discuss more about injuries, Jasper has been out over half the season, Patterson missed the Houston game, and Meeks hasn't been there all year, yet the team is playing its best ball down the stretch.  But once again, they lost to Gardner Webb, UAB (a bubble team), San Diego (a TOURNAMENT team), and Houston on the road.  Who cares that they beat an undefeated Vanderbilt and the #1 ranked RPI team.
     Once again, I challenge someone to name the 34 at large teams that deserve a bid about UK right now.  To say that the Cats get in on name alone is absurd, and I hope all of you do fade them in the tourney before you even see the matchup.  Might be the easiest money made by Vegas all tournament.

arkansas, tenn & vandy are their only quality wins & all at home. their best road win is at georgia & that only looks good now because georgia had a saturday night that that was the equivalent of me having a threesome with 2 swedish twins. one great night does not equal a stud though. if kentucky gets in & a team like ariz st. dosen't it's a travesty. i hope kentucky gets on a roll & wins the nit because they are a very resiliant, scrappy team but they don't deserve a bid to the big dance.

How is UK getting in over Arizona State a travesty?  ASU is 5-9 over its last 14, has one quailty non-conference win in Xavier, and went 9-9 in the Pac-10.  Not exactly a resume that just jumps out at you.  I'm not saying ASU isn't deserving, but it's ludicrous to automatically assume UK is undeserving because of early season losses.  The way some sound on here, they should have just packed it in after the 6-7 non conference start.

I would rather see a team like Lasalle get in before Kentucky...I understand that Meeks and Patterson make them a better team.....but, they are without Meeks and Patterson, so it makes them a worst team......OUT!!!!!
