The only thing small asbout Davidson is the size of their enrollment, on the court they need to be considered right there.
Non-conference schedule is better than anything anybody from the Big Ten (which we all know is garbage now) had. Really, maybe Wisconsin (which I'm a diehard fan of) needs to ask Davidson if they can switch conferences. Wiscy plays Savannah St. and IPFW for a reason. They get WAXED when they play against, say, Duke. Davidson? Oh they hang with Duke and lose by 6. How about North Carolina? Oh, only lose by 4. Maybe UCLA? How about lead by 4 at the half and only lose by 12 ON THE ROAD AT UCLA. And this is ALL early in the season.
Now? Make Gonzaga, G'Town, and Wisconsin look like doormats of their respective conferences.
Stop, stop, stop with the cinderella story...this team is "elite" status as of right now and REALLY REALLY deserve any kudos they're getting. THEY ARE FOR REAL!!!!
They are definetly more then just Curry.
Like any other team though, if his supporting cast struggles and he's off...they'll get waxed (see first halves of Zags and G'town games). But hey, Vandy, Mich. St., and West Virginia could couldn't hit the broadside of a barnyard and look what happened to them.
ON THE COURT, Davidson players are big boys.....win or lose from here on out.

vegasj,
I respect your opinions greatly. All right on, sort of.........
I watched Georgetown play alot. Their guard play was average at best. Wisconsin was in the WORST BCS conference in America. I have a hard time comparing only lose by this or that. They lost.
"ELITE", is a big word, and used almost as much as "GREAT", which is used way to much to justify its definition most of the time.
I think G-Mason was better actually a few years back if we are comparing small schools making runs. Not because they made the F-4, but because GM had 2 Curry's. We will see Sunday though.
I don't want to say how they do against KU says really how good they are, but it's only fair. KU is "ELITE" not "GREAT" in my opinion because to be considered great in my books you have to win Championships to earn that classification.
KU has all the pressure, Davidson has none. A very nice position to be in. Especially for gamblers I think the line will be over valued because KU has been playing well and Joe Public loves KU. With good reason. They can run you off the court in so many ways.
ON THE COURT, Davidson has beaten the Big East and Big 10 champ which is admirable. But, they are the 2 last conferences out of the 5 BCS conferences in America.
They got a nice draw. Let's not totally discard that.
They lose by less then 10 to KU they played great!
--Just my opinion. Good thread vegasj.--
Good Luck!!

Food for thought (oh no, not that again): Wiscy beat K-State and Texas, guess who Kansas lost to? Yep, those 2.
Where would you rate Davidson in the Big 12?||an_light.gif' border=0>

They've beaten tough competition and have played 2 number one seeds and 2 number two seeds throughout the season...they've experienced what it's like to play an elite team and have continued to prove the doubters wrong.
I know it would screw everyone's remaining bracket, but that would be awesome to see them pull a couple more upsets!
Huge fan of Stephan Curry, that kid is awesome and plays with a lot of heart.
By the way, who you boys thinking for tonight's games? I saw you guys thinking a tease, are you still on that?

Yeah, like the tease, if it loses it's not because of good logic. Playing the better team is never a bad thing.
Agree with you on Davidson, at this point anybody can beat anybody....except Xavier (IMHO).

It does matter if they lost by 6 or 4 or 12, if a SOCON team like Davidson can hang in there that means alot. You say it dosent matter a loss is a loss...I disagree, respectfully BigCasino, UNC lost to Duke earlier in the season, that loss to Duke didnt make Duke the better team, just the better team that night. Davidson didnt just beat Wisky, who in my opinion was waaaaayyyyy overrated, the drummed em!!! Curry had what, 33 points, they scored alot more than that. I believe the smaller schools fair good when matched up 5 on 5, its just the depth that usually kills em. Maybe im biasis because I'm here in Charlotte NC but they deserve the credit of bein a Great school...Elite....that takes years of success!!

Please....Davidson is not "elite". For sure, they are playing great right now and beating top notch teams, but think about where their season would have ended if the 3 pt. line were moved back a foot. Again, I give them the respect they deserve but match their roster up against Kansas, UNC, Memphis, UCLA, Lousiville, etc. and tell me how elite they look. By the way....don't elite teams usually have coaches people have heard of?

I personally dont believe Elite status is handed over in one year...they are a Great team this year, no doubt about it. Elite is programs, such as UNC, Duke, UCLA...etc, do it year after year...and when even in a year where there not so good still are an elite program. Thats when you know you have an elite program, when you lose 12 games in a season and are still recognized as elite. Just like I dont believe Tenn. is Elite, a couple of years dont make a program!

isnt this your post under quit making such a big deal
Let's see,
Stanford loses to:
Siena
UCLA 3 times(thanks to refs twice)
Oregon
Arizona St.
USC
Texas loses to:
Michigan St.
Wiscy
Missouri (LOL)
Texas A&M (which almost beat UCLA)
Texas Tech
Kansas
Texas has what, 2 bad losses (Missouri and Tech)?
Stanford has 3 (Oregon, Arizona St., and Siena)?
Texas BARELY beats Miami(FL)?
Stanford BARELY beats Marquette? Better win?
Stanford RPI is 14, Texas is 6.
DJ Augustin has managed a whopping total of 18 points against Austin Peay and Miami
(FL).
Damon Jones, a 6-7 Soph. leads Texas in rebounds.
What is the marquee win for Texas? Texas A&M?
Marquee win (s) for Stanford? Marquette, Washington State 3 times, USC?
I have never seen a team more over hyped than Texas, NOT ONE REAL QUALITY WIN in an ENTIRE YEAR. Do quality losses mean more than wins? I guess the line (-2) means home court, I'm going with Stanford on a hunch they're the more tested with better wins!!

Wisc is okay, the Big 10 is just crap. Mich. St. and Wisc make the Big 10 look really below average yesterday.
The second half of those games were no contest.
We'll see if KU gets used like though 2 did.
I bet Curry won't have 20 against KU.
