The NBA as well as most pro sports have all long since been ruined by the almighty dollar. As soon as anyone lands a significant contract it seems their passion level for the game falls - some dramatically. I've seen it in and out year after year

I like watching NCAA bball in the tournament but not much during the season. I see these kids playing  their heart out but  sometime they do chuck up to many 3s. Should we make these kids stay another year like college football. College bball has gotten more exciting since they stop letting these kids go straight to nba from high school. I think they should make them stay till after their sophomore year to enter in nba draft . 

Big Difference it's great for a school like the U at Buffalo to play schools like Tennessee ... Close to a Million dollars goes to the athletic department ..

I Love that Johnny Football is forced to come back and play more College Ball ... Wish college kids had to stick around for a few years in Hoops as well ...

Anyone that actually thinks the NBA is a better game and/or product than college hoops is just a lost soul.

Of course the talent is better. Its not rocket science. The best players from 344 schools are competing (against foerign players as well) to get on a roster of one of the only 30 pro teams. Are the games better because only the best of the best play? Sure, if you like watching one on one and people playing horse.Teams with bad years have a chance to rise up in the conference tourneys. In the NBA, when your out of the playoffs its time for vacation....

 

How many people take off work to watch the NBA playoffs?

 Right on the money Train..Why watch something, in this case the NBA, where you already know the ending? Because we all know how the NBA season will end..The element of surprise is reason alone to watch the tournament..

I think college hoops and the NBA are different games, almost across the board.  Different physicality, mentality, coaching, reffing, rules, etc.  I almost think comparing the two is pointless, and you may as well compare watching the NBA to the NFL, or MLB.  Most of the argument is going to end up being subjective anyway.

I haven't followed the NBA closely in probably close to 10 years, so I won't bother trying to critique it from a fan standpoint. When I do catch some of a game, I find myself bored with the game-flow and playing style.  For whatever reason, I am just more entertained by college hoops.

As far as comparing college hoops to where it was 20+ years ago, I think the talent level is spread out much further now than it ever was.  Mass media has put more teams in the spotlight, a lot of  top level athletes leave school after 1 or 2  years and there are just more div. 1 teams now than ever before.  So while there is more parity than ever, it also decreases the talent level in each game you see on TV.

And yes, while usually only the top seeded teams have a legit shot at running the table and winning the title, the NCAA tournament structure is still the best format, and does give some of these smaller schools their day in the sun, even if it is only one day/game.

I am a huge NCAA fan, absolutely would rather watch college ball over pro most days.  I think the NCAA tournament is one of the greatest sporting events in all sports. 

Like all sports its cyclical.  There are some bad tournaments IMO, that don't have the intrigue.  If you ask me this trny has been great. 

When it comes to the NBA playoffs we are watching such a better brand of basketball.  The game itself is being played at the highest level, and teams in the playoffs give it their all.  Yes the regular season is of little interest.  But the NBA playoffs is great product and much better to bet on.  It is very hard to predict what these college kids are going to do from game to game.

Yes one of my buddies is a AAU Coach , I often get to practice with the Kids ... Very Athletic , but almost uncoachable ... Their Foot work on defense is lazy at best

Very true I've noticed the lack of defense in many NBA games.
