He who laughs last, always laughs loudest. And that’s a good thing, because UConn had better be laughing pretty damn loud to drown out all the Big East haters, who threw the conference under the bus this March.
After another season’s worth of Big East hype, college basketball fans were quick to say “I told you so” when it came to the supremacy of the conference. The Big East’s top programs, like Pitt, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Louisville didn’t even make it to the second week of the tournament. Out of the conference’s 11 bids in the Big Dance, just two were standing in the Sweet 16.
“The Big East is overrated and after Notre Dame loses tonight, it’s just going to be another feather in my cap,” Charles Barkley said confidently before the Irish went down against Florida State in the third round.
Well, Chuck, you might want to check your cap. It's about as bald as your head.
The Huskies, the Big East tournament champs, rolled through the NCAA and won the conference’s first national title since UConn earned its second “One Shinning Moment” in 2004.
Connecticut’s title run is a testament to how Big East play prepares its programs for tough tournament competition. The young Huskies finished with a 9-9 mark during conference play, learning lesson after lesson with every trip to South Bend, Milwaukee, Morgantown and the unfortunately-named, KFC Yum Center.
By the time the conference tournament rolled around, UConn was already in national-title mode, winning 11 straight postseason games, while posting a profitable 10-1 mark against the spread, en route to the school’s third NCAA title.
It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes one hell of a conference to forge a champion.

If they play the tournament 10 more times, there are probably 10 different champions, and 2-3 of them would be from the Big East.
Thats a bold statement considering the Big East hasn't placed a team in the championship game for the last 7 years before UCONN did last nite..
So I dont know where you get your information......The big east is okay but not the deepest 11 teams in the tourney is a joke maybe 6 or 7.....it must be nice having 6 teams in a conference that are well under 500 haha..

Wherever there is Big East basketball there will be Big East ENVY. Let the drama llamas spit all the hatorade they want. At the end of the year, the Big East supplies its fans with more entertainment during the regular season alone than the next 3 conferences put together. Spout your stats, bring your bias, but deep down in places they don't like to talk about at parties the haters know the Big East is king. Congrats to the Huskies as well as the other 15 squads who gave us countless moments of entertainment!

Big East had a lot of decent to very good teams. The conference was unbelievably deep as shown by a 9th place team winning the national title. Nice job and I'm glad to see a conference other than the ACC is capable of finishing.
