I expect this to be a game where Edmonton plays well overall and the D line gets after a immobile QB who cannot run very well---
2 weeks of prep time also does not hurt for SASK-- they have had 2 weeks so they can prepare to stop the SASK run game--
Edmonton will play close to the line of scrimmage to stop the run, on natural grass also it is an advantage because the running backs always slip on the grass--
Edmonton would have won the last game also if QB ray did not throw to a receiver named BROCK RALPH--
This guy is absolutely horrible, 2 passes in his direction led to interceptions, he just sucks really bad. If I was RAY I would only throw to him if he was wide open , if he is covered just take the sack or throw it out of bounds for sure. He lets the DB just intercept the ball no problem. He has no lateral movement and sucks at running patterns--
Edmonton D will blitz a lot tonight I think-- They blitzed like crazy vs BC, because they wanted to make the QB beat them. The blitzes worked pretty well, the QB for bC threw for a measly 150 yards in that game and scored 40 points!
Edmonton appears to have the swaggart at home which is good because SASK has the road swaggart, however they have already won in BC, which has struggled all year, and at CGY which was impressive, but that win was more to CGY playing bad, and the ejection of ARMOUR who was CGY best defensive player---
One thing for sure is that after the first half in CGY-- SASK offense without MATT dominguex has looked very shaky-- THey got shut down basically in 6 qtrs straight after DOMINGUEZ got injured--
CRANDELL is a 100% timing QB, he throws to a spot and Dominguez was their best receiver. Now they have Washington and BOWMAN who are decent, but are relied to carry the load. BOWMAN was not even projected as a starter--
CATES is the real problem here, if they stop CATES, you see as CGY did, CRANDELL cannot move the ball-- Now this a good team though with a good defense, however they have been scored on.
They held BC to 14 points- CGy to 21 in CGY-- but also have allowed 33 to montreal, 30 to CGY last week, 31 to Hamilton, so they can be scored on---
Edmonton has scored many points this year, the only games they dont is the ones they struggle in the red zone--
The thing that catches my attention is that Edmonton looks good on DEFENSE-- vs BC they shut them down in that 2nd half,
On Offense they have been solid also all year---
Sask Offense was solid but with no Flick, Fantuz and Dominguez, the receiving core is thin.. THey still won with CATES-- but CATES can be taken out as CGy held him to 20 yards---
Sask Defense is allowing 22 points a game, but I am not sold on their ability to beat a solid drop back QB like RAY-- they can stop the scrambling head case QB's easily- that is how they win they get in your head, but vs Calvillo he picked them apart, Jarious is young and BURRIS was rattled. Burris regrouped and picked them apart the next game though showing patience and short passes---
I think its more mental than anything vs the SASK D, and RAY has ripped them apart in the past at home--- I really think the BC game was good for Edmonton, it was so sloppy 6 turnovers and they lose by 6 points!
Sask has been benifiting all year from turnovers and better than average running that is not normal in the CFL----
So what I see hear is a team that is considered and looked up as stronger than it is in SASK based on their record-- they fluked out a win vs MTL, lost to CGY, beat CGY by 1 pt, should have lost to HAMMY also on that weird call with the touchback rule--
Edmonton has gotten the linesmakers respect by making them 3 point favorites-- Seeing them live I was impressed by their athleticism and speed. I am thinking that at home where they wont turnover the ball so much they can get the job done---
ACe returner Tristan jackson fumbled twice, and cost the eskies 7 points and also fumbled from the 1 yard line--- What also is a good sign is that Eskies were looking good defending the deep pass, they have a DB rookie Bradley ROBINSON, this guy will be scooped up by the NFL, he made an INT vs BC better than CROMARTIES one handed int off Manning last year--
