F1 Hungarian Grand Prix Prediction, Picks & Odds – Hungaroring 2025

Perhaps unsurprisingly, McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are drawing the shortest odds to win a race, this time being favored at the 2025 Hungarian GP. Piastri picked up his first race win here in 2024.

The 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix is upon us.

Oscar Piastri is the betting favorite as he and Lando Norris have cruised through much of the Formula 1 season. However, they'll both start behind a Ferrari after Charles Leclerc earned the right to pole in Saturday's qualifying session.

Let's break down the Formula 1 odds at Hungaroring.

2025 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix prediction and picks

F1 Hungarian Grand Prix 2025 pre-qualifying favorites

Lewis Hamilton is the winningest driver in Hungarian Grand Prix history with eight victories under his belt (Michael Schumacher is closest behind him with four), but he isn't in a position to pad that lead in 2025. Hamilton hasn't won at Hungaroring since 2020, and he hasn't had a podium finish since last year's Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Instead, Oscar Piastri leads the way for McLaren. And while a lot of that is connected to a sterling run of performances in 2025 (six race wins, 11 podiums), the Hungarian GP holds a special place in Piastri's lore. This was the setting of his first career F1 win just last year.

He'll have competition, most notably from teammate Lando Norris, who had earned consecutive wins before finishing second to Piastri in Belgium. He was also runner-up at Hungaroring last year and in 2023.

Max Verstappen has seen some success here, too, winning back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, but, as we've established, Verstappen isn't having his strongest year, and past positive results have predicted repeats in 2025.

F1 Hungarian Grand Prix 2025 post-qualifying picks

Race prediction: Oscar Piastri
+100 at bet365

Charles Leclerc is just the fifth driver to claim pole all season, joining Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, George Russell, and Max Verstappen. However, with just one second-place finish and four other podiums all season, I think he takes a backseat to the McLaren storyline.

Piastri showed real racing chops in the rain-soaked Belgian Grand Prix last week, taking his sixth race of the season. It was also the first time Norris failed to claim a checkered flag when starting first. He's now in great position to win back-to-back races in Hungary.

A win at the Hungaroring would give Piastri even more breathing room heading into F1’s summer break, currently a 16-point cushion over Norris.

Best bet: Lance Stroll Top 6
-120 at bet365

With so much certainty near the top of the standings, there’s very little value for anything other than an outright winner, with Leclerc’s podium finish the best at -275.

Instead, let’s focus on Lance Stroll, who’s had a rough year, finishing Top 6 to start the season in Australia. It’s his best start to date, as he’s finished outside the Top 10 in nine of the next 11 races.

However, he’s starting sixth in Hungary, his best start of the year. Couple that with some decent odds, and it’s worth wagering on him at least matching his best showing of the season.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Charles Leclerc +400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $400 if Leclerc wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Max Verstappen -120

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
