The Saskatchewan Roughriders try to snap a two-game skid when they travel to the nation's capital on Friday to face the Ottawa Redblacks.

These teams combined for 690 passing yards and 57 points when they clashed in Week 1, and my Roughriders vs. Redblacks predictions are betting on another shootout.

Here are my best free CFL picks for this showdown on October 3.

Roughriders vs Redblacks prediction

My Roughriders vs Redblacks pick: Over 53.5 (-105 at BET99)

The Ottawa Redblacks have surrendered 30+ points in five of their last six games. The only contest during that span where they held an opponent below that number came against Winnipeg, who were led by a backup QB.

Ottawa is last in the CFL in sacks (18) and second-last in yards allowed per play (6.85). The Redblacks won't contain an explosive Saskatchewan Roughriders offense that is second in the league in yards per play (7.06) and can pound the rock with A.J. Ouellette or air it out with Trevor Harris.

While the Riders can move the ball, their defense is trending in the wrong direction, allowing 27+ points in four of their last five games. They are dealing with key injuries in their secondary and now rank second-last in the league in yards allowed per pass (9.10).

That's bad news against a Redblacks aerial attack that has been dangerous with Dru Brown under center. Brown has played in just six full games this year, but he has been a force when healthy. The Ottawa pivot is surrounded by a talented WR corps and is fresh off a game where he threw for 406 yards.

Roughriders vs Redblacks same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 53.5

Redblacks +3.5

The Roughriders are coming off back-to-back upset defeats and are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games. Now, they travel to Ottawa on a short week to face a Redblacks squad that is coming off a bye.

Ottawa has been a different beast with a healthy Dru Brown, and he returned from a month on the IL to torch the Bombers in Week 16. Brown should be able to take advantage of a vulnerable Riders secondary and keep this game close.
