Against the spread (ATS) pick
The Blue Bombers haven't clicked on offense this season but they're still 3-1 SU and got a big boost with the return of running back Andrew Harris last week. The 2019 Grey Cup MVP led the league in rushing yards for three straight years, from 2017 to 2019, and is a factor in the passing game as well.
The Bombers have been much tougher on the defensive side of the ball, where they are holding foes to a league-low 14.8 points per game despite an ugly Week 3 performance in Toronto, in which they allowed 30 points to the Argos.
The Roughriders have gotten off to a strong start, with a CFL-best 3-0 record, and are fresh off a bye week. With the exception of a second-half backdoor cover by BC in Week 1, Saskatchewan has looked outstanding this season, leading the league in scoring (28.7 ppg) while ranking second in scoring defense (15.7 ppg allowed).
That said, they could be due for a bit of a letdown against a Bombers club that they have gone just 1-5 ATS against in the last six meetings, including back-to-back losses by 20+ points at Mosaic Stadium.
The Riders are rolling up plenty of yardage on offense but have really struggled in the red zone and that could prove costly against an experienced Winnipeg squad that limits turnovers. Grab the Bombers with the points.
PREDICTION: Winnipeg +4.5 (-105)
Over/Under pick
On paper, these teams should be explosive on offense. But, football isn't played on paper, and on the field, these squads have been mediocre with the ball. Saskatchewan ranks fifth in the league with 4.7 yards per play while Winnipeg ranks seventh with 4.4.
Both of these squads have been carried by their strong defenses, with the Bombers holding opponents to the second-fewest yards per pass attempt in the league (6.8) and the Riders allowing a league-low 47 yards per game on the ground.
As a matter of fact, the defenses on both teams have actually played a big role in how many points they put on the board since they do a great job at forcing turnovers and giving their offenses a short field to work with.
They might not have that advantage on Sunday, since both squads do a good job of taking care of the ball. With the Under cashing in six straight games in the head-to-head, back it again on Sunday.
PREDICTION: Under 43 (-110)
