Jake Paul steps out of the spotlight in his cruiserweight bout with Ryan Bourland tonight at the Coleseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico as the chief support bout to Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Meinke.

Paul looks to sharpen his skills against actual boxers, though it’s questionable if someone like Bourland can give him trouble. Boxing odds have Paul as a -2,500 favorite while Bourland is a +1,300 underdog.

Here are my free picks for Paul vs. Bourland from Puerto Rico.

Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland boxing prediction and best bet

Prediction: Paul ML

Jake Paul continues to scale back the competition as he tinkers and refines his boxing game. Ryan Bourland is a former Golden Gloves champion, and he also walked away from the sport for nearly four years before staging a comeback. A quick look at Bourland’s resume and recent footage of his training camp doesn’t suggest Paul has anything to worry about.

Bourland was previously knocked out in one round by Israel Duffus in 2015 and went 1-1 with club fighter Jose Hernandez right before he quit boxing to pursue blue-collar work on an oil rig. Though Paul is trying to work his way up the rankings in the traditional manner, this might be another easy night of work for “The Problem Child.”

How Paul can show off what he’s learning at this stage of the game is hard to determine. It’s debatable that Bourland could give him stiffer resistance than Andre August did in his last fight, which only lasted two-and-a-half minutes.

Paul brings in another emphatic win against an overmatched opponent.

Prediction: Jake Paul moneyline (-1,400 at DraftKings)

Best Bet: Paul to win in Round 1-2 (-115)

The brash Paul does have notable power, and he’s not afraid to take chances if it results in a knockout. How prepared Bourland can be at 35 and with one fight in four years is hard to imagine, but he’s shown that he can be hurt early in fights.

Paul isn’t going to do himself any favors by keeping Bourland on his feet if he can get to him. This should feel, and look, like a stay-busy fight for Paul, and he’ll come out firing after gauging his opponent’s resolve.

Before Bourland can shift into any gear, however, Paul will land a big overhand right and put him down and out shortly after. I don’t see this fight lasting too long, and Paul should get the job done before the third round.

Prediction: Jake Paul to win in Round 1 or 2 (-115 at FanDuel)

Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland betting preview

Paul is back on the boxing trail, leaving his showcase days with MMA stars and other athletes behind him. His previous fight against August ended in one round, and Paul looks to sharpen his boxing skills in pursuit of either a rematch with former conqueror Tommy Fury or an unlikely title fight at cruiserweight.

Bourland returns to the ring two years after ending his retirement. The former amateur standout from California posts a respectable 17-2 record but spent the prime years of his career languishing in the club fighter circuit before leaving the sport altogether.

Bourland possesses more boxing experience but only has six knockouts in his career. Four of Paul’s last six fights have gone the distance, and he’s scored knockdowns in each of his last five fights.
