Welterweights Avious Griffin and Justin Cardona will face off in what should be a heavy-hitting clash between young contenders on tonight's Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua undercard.

Griffin is a -500 favorite, and I'm siding with the heavy favorite in Miami.

Here are my free Avious Griffin vs. Justin Cardona predictions and free betting picks for Friday, December 19.

Griffin vs Cardona prediction and pick

Fight analysis
Neither Avious Griffin nor Justin Cardona is going to headline cards in the near future, but they are both fun fighters who leave little to the imagination and let their hands go.

Griffin is coming off a thrilling battle against Julian Rodriguez, where both fighters hit the mat, but Griffin couldn’t get up when he did. Cardona is a scrappy brawler who is three fights removed from his first career setback, but is also taking a small step up in class against the stronger and more aggressive Griffin.

These two fighters come forward and throw heavy shots right from the start. Naturally, this will favor the better puncher, Griffin, who boasts 16 knockouts in 17 wins — unless Cardona can crowd him and take away some of the sting of his shots.

Griffin should find himself able to land his big shots early on and potentially get to a fast start. If Cardona can hang around after the initial blitz, or if he can avoid it altogether by staying on Griffin’s chest and targeting his body, he could make things difficult for the power puncher. Unfortunately for Cardona, we’ve seen that he’s unable to keep up a fast pace, and once he slows down, Griffin will be in position to take over the fight.

This fight should be a fun one and is likely to devolve into something that resembles a bar fight not long after the opening bell. Even so, Griffin’s heavier hands will be the key in a fight between two defensively challenged punchers, and he’s the pick.

Best best analysis
In the absence of available odds, Griffin straight up will have to be the pick. You’ll likely get better than -500 on the fight not going the distance, so keep an eye on that closer to fight time.
