Where is the Monaco Grand Prix taking place?
The crown jewel on the Formula 1 calendar and one of the most famous races in all of motorsports, the Monaco Grand Prix has been held every year since 1955, with the exception of last year.
One of the few true street circuits in F1, it's an incredibly narrow course with some of the tightest corners in the sport, making overtaking incredibly difficult. Qualifying day is the most important part of the Monaco weekend, due to the nature of the circuit.
F1 Monaco Grand Prix tips and picks
Tip: Fastest Qualification and Race Win - Max Verstappen (+200)
(Editor's Note: This pick was made prior to Saturday's qualifying that saw Charles Leclerc top qualification but suffer vehicle damage in a crash. Should Leclerc receive a five-grid penalty on Sunday, Verstappen would assume pole position after finishing with the second-quickest time in qualifying.)
In seven of the last 10 Monaco Grand Prix, the driver who started in first ended up winning the race. One of the three instances of pole position not leading to a race win was Daniel Ricciardo's heartbreaking 2016 second-place finish, which was the result of a disastrous pit stop.
Pole position is, without a doubt, most important in the streets of Monaco, where overtaking is nearly impossible. The winner on Sunday is likely to be Saturday's pole-sitter, and regardless of which driver you are backing on Sunday, you're better off backing them to top both days rather than just race day.
Red Bull's Verstappen will go into Saturday as the favorite to win his first Monaco Grand Prix. The biggest difference between the Mercedes and Red Bull cars this year is their power, and power simply is not as important in Monaco as it is at proper tracks. Their chassis shines at narrow circuits like Monaco and Verstappen is a driver who thrives on the edge, which is where the Monaco Grand Prix takes place.
Red Bull's young star can have one of the best weekends of his career, taking his first pole and first win at the most famous F1 race.
Tip: Fastest Lap - Sergio Perez (+400)
F1 veteran Sergio Perez's start to life at Red Bull hasn't been great. The Mexican driver has unsuccessfully wrestled the car on numerous occasions, as his predecessors did, and he has been unable to keep pace with Verstappen in Red Bull's fight against Mercedes. However, he has consistently spoken about growing comfort with every race, and now he gets his next chance at one of the tracks he is most comfortable at.
Despite the Red Bull being Perez's first championship-caliber car, he has enjoyed a few successful weekends in Monaco, including a podium in 2016 and two fastest laps. Like Verstappen, Perez is at his best at the absolute limit, extracting every ounce of pace out of his car by placing his racing line on the very edge — an approach that's rewarded at Monaco (provided the car isn't put into the wall).
While Perez is unlikely to be fighting for the race win in Monaco, in the Red Bull, he will be fully capable of putting in the fastest lap, especially after topping free practice one.
With Red Bull doing everything they can to maintain a title fight against Mercedes, they'll be eager for their second driver to earn an additional point with a fastest lap. As Perez has proven, he is capable of being the fastest driver around Monaco, even if only for a single lap.

How to bet on Formula 1
The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include on which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.
F1 race odds usually look like this:
- Sebastian Vettel +650
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $650 if Vettel wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:
- Lewis Hamilton -175
This means that you would need to bet $175 to win $100 on Hamilton winning the race.
