2024 World Series Odds: It's Time For Dodger Baseball

After an early-season swoon made the Dodgers look vulnerable, Los Angeles is on a heater thanks to Shohei Ohtani's bat and a rotation that is continuing to get healthier with the impending return of Walker Buehler.

The World Series is months away but Major League Baseball's standings are separating the wheat from the chaff. There's plenty of time to rebound or fall apart, but every game ultimately matters.

MLB odds still favor preseason powerhouses like the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves while AL East stalwarts like the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles are rising in stature.

Let's take a look at the latest World Series odds with the first month of the MLB season nearly in the books.

World Series winner odds

Favorites to win 2024 World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers (+320 to +350)

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially put an early-season swoon to bed. The Dodgers have won four straight and eight of 10, extending their NL West lead to an MLB-best 5.5 games over the second-place San Diego Padres.

It certainly helps that Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in FanGraphs WAR among all MLB hitters. Ohtani has especially turned it on at the plate of late, riding a modest five-game hitting streak that he capped off by going 7-for-9 with three home runs in the last two games of the weekend set vs. the Braves. Ohtani is now hitting .364/.426/.685 with 10 home runs and seven stolen bases.

And the strong get stronger. Walker Buehler will make his season debut against the lowly Miami Marlins (who allowed 20 runs to the Oakland A's in a single game over the weekend) on Monday night. With the Dodgers getting healthy in the rotation, things could get ugly for everyone else very quickly.

After wrapping up a three-game series with the Marlins, the Dodgers will slide over to San Diego for a weekend meet-up with the Padres.

Atlanta Braves (+400 to +460)

The Atlanta Braves will happily return to Truist Park after dropping five of six during their West Coast trip, including a three-game sweep at the hands of the Dodgers where they got outscored 20-6.

Not only that but the Philadelphia Phillies (+1,000 to +1,100) have leapfrogged them in the NL East standings thanks to them winning five in a row and nine of 10. Now, the Phillies have played three more games and Atlanta is still an impressive 20-12, but the division won't be a cakewalk.

It's a short week for the Braves, too. After hosting the Boston Red Sox for two games, they're back on the road to face the New York Mets at Citi Field over the weekend.

New York Yankees (+700 to +800)

The New York Yankees swept the three-game weekend series against the Detroit Tigers to recover from getting punched in the mouth by the Baltimore Orioles. The O's won three of four to kick off last week, outscoring the Yanks 13-6 over the low-scoring set.

The Yankees now trail the Orioles by a single game in the East but are still drawing shorter odds to win the Fall Classic.

New York will play host to the Houston Astros before heading to St. Pete to face the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend.

How to read MLB World Series futures odds

Sportsbooks will post World Series futures as soon as the previous season concludes, and some even sooner. These betting boards are constantly adjusted throughout the winter and ensuing season as players get hurt or are traded. Once the regular season begins, World Series odds will change daily as teams win and lose games, and as more players are injured or traded. Sportsbooks will also adjust the World Series odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.

World Series odds will usually look like this:

  • Los Angeles Dodgers +240

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $240 if the Dodgers win the World Series. If it's close to the end of the season or MLB has a very dominant team, you could see a minus sign (-) ahead of a team's odds.

  • Atlanta Braves -150

This means that if you bet on the Atlanta Braves during the 2020 MLB season, you would have needed to bet $150 to profit $100 if the Braves won the championship.

Above we have posted the American odds for the World Series. However, these are easy to convert to decimal odds or fractional odds with our odds converter tool.
