Yet another MAC showdown here on Tuesday night, featuring Ball State and Northern Illinois. This is the third straight road game for Ball State, who isn't a bad squad this year. They've beaten Ohio, Army, and Indiana, and have played South Florida and Oklahoma. That's a pretty tough schedule for a MAC team. However, I think they are in trouble here tonight against NIU. Ball State is banged up and lacks depth as a result. This is a problem, as they are already the worst defense in the MAC, facing the best offense in the MAC. I believe NIU will be going up and down the field on Ball State tonight, and will wear down the depleted Ball State squad. NIU's quarterback Chandler Harnish is a dual-threat and will give this porous defense fits. Furthermore, Ball State just lost their starting running back in last week's contest due to a broken leg. Ball State will be one dimensional tonight and unable to sustain drives and possess the ball, against a defense that gave a much better effort last week after givin up 60 to Toledo. Ball State does have a pretty solid quarterback in Keith Wenning, and I don't doubt that they'll produce some offense, but I think NIU has way too much firepower for an already poor and depleted defense. NIU is clicking on all cylinders right now, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them run Ball State off the field tonight.

nice write up, im thinking the same way after watching the "mac" on tv for the past couple of weeks and agree that northern illinois is clicking especially on offense.they do seem to give up some points on D, but i think that with that double threat Harnish, they should be able to control the game by putting up a lot of points.they say the temp is gonna be in the low 30's and thats may be the only reason i dont go with the over.....but havent ruled it out yet. good luck !

jair...glad we're on the same page. I thought about the under as well. But I'm not exactly sure what to expect from the NIU defense. I expect them to be at least serviceable, but if they continue in last week's form, they may limit Ball State's offense significantly, so I'm a bit concerned that they won't score enough for the over. Either way, GL tonight with your plays.

DanTos...Scott started the first five games this year...and was the second leading rusher on the team. You're right though, thanks for the clarification. I still think it hurts the running game, and further contributes to their lack of depth as a team.

hey T! So how many carries will Edwards have tonight? Will the 3rd string guy split the carries 60/40 or will Edwards carry it 20+ with Scott out? prop bet Edwards over 55.5 looks GREAT IMO!

njsupreme...thanks brother...I'll keep them coming. Glad you like them. GL tonight.
Bogey man, whats up buddy? I would think over is the way to go. Edwards averages 68 as it is, so I think especially with Scott out, he will get the majority of the action and go over 55.5. Ball State will probably try to pound the ball early and keep NIU's potent offense on the sidelines. However, my only concern is that if NIU gets a couple of early scores, Ball may have to abandon the running game and air it out to match scores with NIU. However, I think over is still the way to go with this one. GL buddy.

what worries me about this matchup is Scott being out. Thats Ball's second leading rusher.. so Hopkins will likely get more attempts right? I'm leaning on Edwards over 55. Thanks for that nice prop bet find!

yes sir i did see that but i am worried that NIU gets ahead and pounds Hopkins in the 4th while Ball St is forced to throw it. Also i only lay -115 on the over 55.5 vs laying -140 on the other.
I was leaning Hopkins until I read Scott was out. CBS sports really needs to update the info much better than they do. Said zero about Scott injury on fantasy news-projections.
However both bets on Edwards are +ev IMO , although one slightly more than the other
