This rumor is gaining a lot of strengh and it fits the situations:
Georgia Defensive Coordinator Willie Martinez is heading to Memphis as head coach in 2010; It's rumored that he will be replaced by Defensive Guru Dick Bumpas, Bumpas has engineered the top ranked TCU defense.
As a Georgia Fan I can only hope its true

Wow, that is great news for Georgia. Hopefully, he can help turn the Bulldogs program around, quick enough for the 2010 season to begin. Nothing I like more, then watching the SEC being equally competitive.
Right now, it looks like it's a Florida/Alabama world. But I think the SEC East will be open for anyone next year.

It's going to be hard to get any harder confirmation than what the "very qualified" sources are now saying. TCU is in run for BCS game; they can't say much now??? UGA probably won't say anything until after GT game at the end of November.... but it fits nicely.....

Even with Martinez as your DC going head to head with Malzhan (which on paper is a total mismatch) I think the DAWGS r the best play on the BOARD this week n CFB

I heard Charlie Strong's name mentioned as a possibility - on one hand I don't want to see him leave but I think he deserves a shot somewhere and he can recruit in the southeast which Memphis needs.

He would be an excellent hire; no doubt.... my concern would be; why take a job at a school that worships basketball; could give a f&&k less about football; will not step up and fund the required infrastructure.... It's kind of like Mississippi State without all the glitter... there will be other openings and I think he deserves better IMHO

nothing but rumors ...not even memphis wants martinez...i think he may be a canidate but they will do much better as memphis is a good job.... they already play more D than UGA. also richt is promising his D recruits that willie will be in athens next year..if he does leave how many commits are leaving? although i couldnt imagine why you would want recruits in athens that DO want to play for martinez...

The Memphis Commercial Appeal published a list Tuesday of possible
candidates for the job that included Oklahoma State co-offensive
coordinator Gunter Brewer, Louisiana Tech Coach Derek Dooley, Auburn
offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, Louisiana State running backs coach
Larry Porter and Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong.
Bud Foster has also expressed interest in the job!!!
How on earth would Willie Martinez be a candidate??
LMFAO!!!
