Grant is a former junior B ice hockey player, and a current believer that the Washington Capitals’ aging core still has another Cup run left in the tank. Grant’s owned and operated his own marketing agency since shortly after graduating from Virginia Tech in 2014. He pursued the profession because he figured it’d be a great way to get paid to do something he loves to do, write. After years of hammering puck lines and leading his fantasy football league as Commissioner, Grant started writing about sports betting and the casino gaming industry in 2021 and hasn’t looked back.

Sometimes in betting it's not about adding to the bank roll, but about getting the moral victories. That's what I earned when I bet my friend that the Washington Capitals would win the 2018 Stanley Cup in five games after losing Game 1. The wager? He had to get a CAPS IN 5 tattoo on his ... you can probably guess where. As luck would have it, us lifelong Caps fans got the Cup after Alex Ovechkin and company rattled off 4 straight victories, yet here I am 6 years later still holding the proverbial receipt since my friend's rear-end still does not read CAPS IN 5. I ended up being his best man at his wedding, and promised to tell his kids about this bet one way or another, a valuable opportunity that no number can justify.

Best Betting Memory

I came to sports betting by way of fantasy football, and I fumbled the 2013 season in the most embarrassing fashion. I got the #1 overall pick and rightfully drafted LeSean McCoy who was then at the height of his powers. Shady was a bit underwhelming through the first few weeks though, so I fell victim to one of the biggest trade swindles in the history of mankind, trading him away for Doug Martin, Knowshon Moreno, and a slew of waiver wire adds that had big early season performances. My team declined every single week from there on out and finished dead-last in both the regular season and playoffs, while the person who won that trade went on to win the whole damn thing. This is a league with my best friends, too, and they have never let me live it down.
