The gap in quality between the teams is narrower than the market suggests. Outsiders Haiti’s starting lineup includes two English Premier League players (midfielder Jean-Jacques Bellegarde and striker Wilson Isidor) plus plenty of performers who have done well in France’s top two divisions down the years (Johnny Placide, Carlens Arcus, Jean-Kevin Duverne, Josue Casimir).
As favorites, Scotland are under pressure to start with three points before theoretically tougher upcoming fixtures against Morocco and Brazil. They head into the game in good form (6-1-3 in 10 2025/26 fixtures) and will enjoy good support at Boston Stadium.
Still, the expectations will weigh heavily on Scotland manager Steve Clarke and his players during the match as Haiti — way down the World Cup odds listings — refuse to simply stand aside.

For both teams, the attacks are better than the defenses. The stats bear this out: six of Scotland’s last eight fixtures have had 3+ goals, for a high average of 3.63 goals per game.

The 29-year-old former Manchester United man scored the second goal in Scotland’s 4-0 final friendly win over Bolivia on June 6. The smart right-footed finish took his tally to three goals in his last six international appearances.
McTominay has scored 26 goals in 75 Italian Serie A and Champions League appearances for Napoli over the past two seasons. He's the player most likely to get on the scoresheet as Scotland look to go deep in the World Cup bracket.
