The 2025 WNBA season is off to a hot start. The Liberty handily dispatched the Aces in the opener, as they celebrated their 2024 championship. Kelsey Plum debuted for the Sparks with a monster scoring performance, and the Mystics pulled off an upset win over the Dream with two rookies in the starting five.

The Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese rivalry is back in full swing. The Fever took down the Sky in a blowout win, and tempers flared when Clark was assessed a flagrant foul as she attempted to strip the ball on a Reese layup attempt.

We’ve got two more games on the Sunday slate as the Mystics look for a second straight win over the rebuilding Sun, and the Lynx and Sparks battle in LA.

Here are my three favorite WNBA picks for Sunday’s two-game slate.

WNBA player prop bets for May 18

  • Valkyries Citron o10.5 points (-105)
  • Valkyries Hamby o8.5 rebounds (-135)
  • Valkyries Plum u21.5 points(-125)

Today's best WNBA player props bets

Sonia Citron Over 10.5 points (-105 at bet365)

Sonia Citron was a key contributor in the Washington Mystics’ upset win over the Dream, dropping 19 points in her WNBA debut. Citron scored 19 points on a blistering 6-of-7 field goals, 2-of-2 three-pointers, and 5-of-6 free throws.

Citron logged only 24 minutes, but she got the start in her first game. After her big game, she’s expected to remain in the starting five. Shakira Austin was out against Atlanta, but her return shouldn’t take away from Citron’s shine.

The third overall pick out of Notre Dame might not reach the 19-point threshold again, but scoring 11 is certainly within reach. She’ll get a favorable matchup with a rebuilding Connecticut Sun team that will open the campaign without any of its five starters from 2024. Bet on the rookie to have another productive outing.

Dearica Hamby Over 8.5 rebounds (-135 at bet365)

Dearica Hamby grabbed 10 boards in the season opener, getting off to a great start in her third season with the Los Angeles Sparks. She averaged a career-best 9.2 boards across 33.7 minutes last season, and Hamby was on the court for a whopping 36 minutes against Golden State to open the 2025 campaign.

Only Kelsey Plum played more minutes against the Valkyries, and with Cameron Brink sidelined until June, expect Hamby to play big minutes for the foreseeable future. Big minutes should mean big rebound totals, and I’m taking the Over after a productive 2024 and strong opener.

Last season, Hamby grabbed 10.3 boards at home compared to 8.1 on the road. She secured at least nine rebounds in 25 of 40 games overall and a whopping 15 of 20 at home. Expect her to snag at least nine rebounds in her 2025 home debut.

Kelsey Plum Under 21.5 points (-125 at bet365)

Kelsey Plum dominated in her Sparks debut, going for a game-high 37 points — her highest point total since she dropped 40 two seasons ago. Plum couldn’t miss, as she hit 11-of-19 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

The monster performance should be taken with a grain of salt, as it came against the Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA’s first expansion team in nearly 20 seasons. Tonight’s matchup is against a Minnesota Lynx team that allowed the lowest field goal percentage and lowest three-point percentage to opponents.

Plum scored at least 22 points just 39 times over the last three seasons, reaching that mark in just over a third of her games played in that span. Coincidentally, Plum’s 40-point eruption in 2023 came against Minnesota, but that was her only 22+ point game against the Lynx in 15 matchups dating back to 2021.

After her huge game in the season opener, expect Minnesota’s defense to key in on Plum tonight. I’m expecting a more muted performance here, and I’ll take the Under.
