UFC Fight Night returns to Vegas as a pair of veterans clash in the welterweight division.

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos enters the fight as the –200 UFC odds favorite against Neil Magny, who will aim to avoid his third straight defeat.

My Magny vs. Zaleski dos Santos predictions break down why I expect a long, grueling battle on Saturday, August 2.

Magny vs Zaleski dos Santos prediction and best bet

Fight analysis
A pair of veteran gatekeepers in the welterweight division will look to get back in the win column as 37-year-old Neil Magny squares off against 38-year-old Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos.

Both men are coming off losses to much younger fighters, with Magny suffering back-to-back first-round KOs against Carlos Prates and Michael Morales, while Zaleski dos Santos was finished by Chidi Njokuani back in March.

Although this bout will even the playing field for both men in terms of age, I’m Zaleski dos Santos to get the job done against Magny, who hits back at +150.

Not only does Zaleski dos Santos boast a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but he should also have a significant edge on the feet against Magny with his explosiveness and capoeira style. Magny was once known for his strong chin, but he’s shown that he can be rocked and finished by powerful strikers in recent years, and that's exactly where the Brazilian will aim to take advantage.

While I’m not necessarily expecting Zaleski dos Santos to finish Magny, he'll control the action with the more impactful strikes and timely exchanges, especially through the first two rounds.

Magny is known for his endurance and steady pace throughout fights, but Zaleski dos Santos has an underrated gas tank as well, highlighted by his three-round war against Benoit Saint Denis.

I’m not too worried about Magny outworking him if this fight goes deep.

Best bet analysis
Magny is coming off consecutive knockout defeats, but Zaleski dos Santos simply doesn’t possess the same power or quickness as guys like Prates or Morales.

The "Haitian Sensation” is also known for his solid fight IQ and won’t want to get into a back-and-forth striking match with Zaleski dos Santos. Instead, Magny will try to tie his opponent up in the clinch and mix in some wrestling to garner points.

Even if Magny gets rocked or outhit, his durability should help him stay alive. We saw this in his last win against Mike Malott, where he rallied late in the third round to earn the knockout.
