UFC 329 prelim odds and picks

Cody Durden vs. Alessandro Costa fight odds

Bet99
Method of Victory Durden Costa
To win outright +190 -245
To win by KO/TKO +675 +215
To win by decision +475 +250
To win by submission +1100 +380
Total rounds Over 1.5 -200 Under 1.5 +150

Odds as of 7-10.

Alessandro Costa continues to fill in fights on short notice, and he has a winnable assignment against the chinny, defensively challenged Cody Durden. Durden is a brave and relentless wrestler who won’t be able to execute his strategy due to Costa’s size and proficiency in BJJ.

Costa is a considerably strong striker, and he won’t have to wait for Durden to open up to land a big shot.

The main concern is Costa’s endurance due to his coming in on short notice yet again, but this is expected to be a short fight for him. I’m taking Costa to win this fight in Round One.

Prediction: Costa moneyline (-245 at BET99)
Best Bet: Costa to win in Round 1 (+285 at BET99)

Robert Whittaker vs. Nikita Krylov fight odds

Bet99
Method of Victory Whittaker Krylov
To win outright -135 +110
To win by KO/TKO +250 +380
To win by decision +270 +375
To win by submission +1000 +700
Total rounds Over 1.5 -210 Under 1.5 +160

Odds as of 7-10.

After back-to-back losses at middleweight, Robert Whittaker is moving up to 205 to face division staple Nikita Krylov in a risky move, considering that Whittaker started his MMA career at welterweight and Krylov, while flawed, is not a bad fighter.

While Krylov is dangerous offensively, he has consistently struggled against disciplined, high-IQ opponents who outclass and ultimately finish him.

Although he never relied on one-punch knockout power, his ability to manage distance should be enough. Krylov's size and aggression will make this competitive, but Whittaker's experience and the totality of his skill are more than enough for me to pick him to win by decision.

Prediction: Whittaker moneyline (-135 at BET99)
Best Bet: Whittaker to win by decision (+275 at BET99)

Tracy Cortez vs. Cong Wang fight odds

Bet99
Method of Victory Cortez Wang
To win outright -105 -120
To win by KO/TKO +1550 +575
To win by decision +150 +190
To win by submission +790 +700
Total rounds Over 2.5 -280 Under 2.5 +210

Odds as of 7-10.

In a battle of one-dimensional fighters, we have a grappler whose game plan is based on top control with Tracy Cortez and an excellent kickboxer who is learning MMA nuances in Cong Wang.

Cortez has lost two of her last three and hit a developmental ceiling, whereas Wang has shown growth since her last loss 19 months ago, particularly in her takedown defense.

Wang’s mobility and precise striking, along with her measured improvements over her past few fights, indicate that she’s up for the task, though she’s being overlooked by bettors as Cortez has exposure in losing efforts to better competition.

Wang by decision is my pick.

PredictionWang moneyline (-110 at BET99)
Best Bet: Wang to win by decision (+205 at BET99)
