Wimbledon men's favorites
Who's hot
Carlos Alcaraz (+150 at Caesars)
Two-time defending champ Carlos Alcaraz hasn’t lost a singles match on these courts since 2022. The Queen’s Club champ and his vast bag of tricks stands at 18-2 on the hallowed lawns of the All-England Club, and the No. 2 seed's versatility should lead to another deep Wimbledon run.
His draw is filled with qualifiers and unproven grass court players. His stiffest early test could be a quarterfinal against junior nemesis Holger Rune, with a looming yet winnable semifinal against either Taylor Fritz or Daniil Medvedev.
Jannik Sinner (+210 at FanDuel)
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has dropped two of his previous three matches entering this fortnight but is the last man to beat Alcaraz at SW19 (2022). His pinpoint serve and robust return game have led him to the quarters or better in each of his previous three Wimbledon tournaments.
Trouble could begin for the top seed as soon as the fourth round against Tommy Paul. A quarterfinal matchup with countryman Lorenzo Musetti could be tricky, and Djokovic could halt his run in the semis.
Novak Djokovic (+650 at DraftKings)
Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic skipped warm-up events, but the No. 6 seed has reached every Wimbledon final since 2017. A Miami final, a Geneva title, and a gritty French Open semifinal suggest he’s ready for one more deep run.
Djokovic dispatched potential quarterfinal foe Jack Draper here in 2021. He’s 4-5 against likely semifinal rival Jannik Sinner, but Sinner’s relative inexperience on grass tilts the edge to the Joker. At better than 6:1 odds, he’s a dangerous betting value.
Who's not
Lorenzo Musetti (+10000 at DraftKings)
Seventh-seed Lorenzo Musetti is coming off the best grass court season of his career but hasn’t played since retiring from his French Open semifinal against Alcaraz.
Musetti’s draw is rough. His weaker second serve will be tested immediately by big-returning qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili. Brandon Nakashima or Reilly Opelka provide difficult challenges in the third, and possibly Ugo Humbert or Ben Shelton could turn his lights out in the quarters.
Ben Shelton (+7000 at FanDuel)
Tenth-seeded Ben Shelton seems to come alive at the Grand Slams, but the big-serving American is coming in on a three-match losing skid. The Australian Open semifinalist and his massive lefty serve reached the Round of 16 at the French Open and the same round here last year.
Eighteen-seed Humbert likely ends his run as soon as the third round. If Shelton does get past that, there’s likely big-hitting Musetti in the Round of 16, followed by Sinner in the quarters.
Wimbledon men's sleepers
Players to watch
Taylor Fritz (+13800 at FanDuel)
Fifth-seed Taylor Fritz flopped in Paris but bounced back with a Stuttgart title and is charging toward a fourth straight Eastbourne crown. His knack for quick points has fueled a 16-8 Wimbledon record and back-to-back quarterfinal runs.
Fritz’s draw is tough but navigable. He opens against the booming serve of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. A potential Round of 16 clash with Daniil Medvedev, where he’s 1-1, looms large, and he has dominated possible quarterfinal foe Alexander Zverev, winning their last five encounters.
Ugo Humbert (+16000 at FanDuel)
Eighteen-seed Ugo Humbert is fully fit. His deep returns and ability to end points quickly, alongside a cannon of a serve, have a good chance to make a deep Wimbledon run.
Humbert likely skates past countryman Gael Monfils and possesses enough variety and experience on grass to best Shelton in the third. His return game could hurt Musetti in the fourth, and his lifetime 1-1 mark gives him a puncher's chance to stun Sinner.
Alexander Zverev (+3000 at FanDuel)
Third-seed Alexander Zverev has never made it past the Round of 16, but his serve and powerful groundies from both wings make the Stuttgart finalist a dangerous threat.
Zverev’s draw has upside. He opens against a qualifier and could meet former finalist and oft-injured Matteo Berrettini in the third. He’s lost five hard-fought battles against Fritz, but Zverev’s nine Grand Slam semifinal appearances always give him a chance in the quarters.
Long shots to avoid
Jack Draper (+1800 at DraftKings)
Fourth-seed Jack Draper has risen through the rankings and has reached the quarters of five events this season. The 2024 Stuttgart champ has grass court victories over Alcaraz and Sinner, but he’s under enormous pressure to do well here, and has a brutal draw.
Big-serving Marin Cilic could end his tourney as soon as the second round, and Bublik is a dangerous third-round foe. Miami Open champ Jakub Mensik possibly awaits in the fourth with Djokovic in the quarters and Sinner in the semis.
