Jacksonville @ Seattle preview

Lumen Field

Last Meeting ( Oct 11, 2009 ) Jacksonville 0, Seattle 41

Jacksonville coach Gus Bradley has intimate knowledge of the Seattle way of business but that likely won’t help when the lowly Jaguars visit the powerful Seahawks on Sunday. Bradley served as Seattle's defensive coordinator the previous four seasons and built the stingy unit before becoming Jacksonville’s coach following last season. The Seahawks have allowed a league-low 10 points while Jaguars are last in the NFL in scoring with 11 points.

Seattle is vying for its first 3-0 start since 2006 and remains loaded with confidence after routing defending NFC champion San Francisco 29-3 last Sunday. Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was named NFL Defensive Player of the Week for his performance, which included an interception. Jacksonville stayed on the West Coast after losing to the Oakland Raiders last Sunday and will be without quarterback Blaine Gabbert (hand) for the second straight game. The Jaguars are last in total offense (213 yards per game) and the Seahawks rank first in total defense (230).

TV: 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Seahawks –19. O/U: 40.5.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS (0-2): Chad Henne will again start at quarterback and has yet to be intercepted while completing 63.6 percent of his passes. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew (72 yards, 2.9 average) injured his left foot in the loss to Oakland and is questionable, which means Jordan Todman (nine yards on six carries) is in line for more playing time. Middle linebacker Paul Posluszny has a team-high 19 tackles for a defense allowing 316 yards per game. However, the unit has forced only one turnover and recorded just four sacks.

ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS (2-0): Seattle has a league-best seven takeaways (four fumbles, three interceptions) and is allowing a league-low 113 passing yards per game. Sherman has seven interceptions in his last seven home games and the pass defense figures to get even better if starting cornerback Brandon Browner (hamstring) is available for the first time this season. Quarterback Russell Wilson (462 yards, two touchdowns) is off to a pedestrian start and running back Marshawn Lynch (141 rushing yards) is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. Standout offensive tackle Russell Okung will miss the game after suffering a toe injury against the 49ers and being placed on the injured reserve-designated to return list.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Seattle leads the series 4-2 and routed the visiting Jaguars 41-0 in 2009 in the most recent meeting.

2. Jacksonville allowed 11 sacks and committed 15 penalties in losses to Kansas City and Oakland.

3. The Seahawks are looking for their 10th consecutive home victory while the Jaguars are hoping to avoid their eighth straight road loss.

PREDICTION: Seahawks 45, Jaguars 9
