Chicago is currently playing with a depleted roster. Already without Courtney Vandersloot for the season, the Sky are currently playing without Angel Reese, Ariel Atkins, and Hailey Van Lith. Those absences have taken an already weak team and made it uncompetitive. During the seven-game losing streak, Chicago hadn’t managed to lose by single digits until Friday, when it held the expansion Valkyries to within seven points.

The Phoenix Mercury are on a rough 1-5 skid, using up the breathing room they’d created in the standings, but Kahleah Copper is doing her best to keep the offense afloat. Copper was the only Phoenix scorer who showed up against the Atlanta Dream in Friday’s blowout loss, ending up with 19 points on 6-for-12 shooting, and she dropped 22 points on the Indiana Fever in midweek.
