Woodruff has been solid since joining the rotation in early July. He's not given out more than two runs in any of those starts, and he's been striking out guys for fun, with 14 over his last two starts. The Mets are batting .212 over the last 15 days, and I just don't see an offensive outburst in the cards. And while Senga's overall numbers look good, he's been roughed up in each of his last three starts, giving up 13 hits, 11 runs, and 4 home runs over the last 12 innings.
The pitching matchup has me concerned for New York’s chances. Brandon Woodruff looks to be in prime form since returning from the shoulder surgery. In five starts, he’s 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA and a 0.635 WHIP – not sustainable numbers, but ones that show Woodruff hasn’t lost a step. Meanwhile, Kodai Senga has an 8.25 ERA with 11 walks in 12 innings since coming off the IL.
