NYM vs AZ Picks
MLB PicksZac Gallen gets the start for Arizona, and he also looked good against the Mets on May 1, allowing just one run in six innings, but Gallen hasn’t been great overall this year, allowing six homers in his first 38 1/3 innings of work on his way to a 4.93 ERA and 4.34 FIP. This is not the same Gallen who dominated NL offenses in 2022 and 2023, as his WHIP (1.304) has now increased three seasons in a row, while his walk rate has gone above four per nine innings. That’s a questionable formula against a Mets lineup with power and patience, ranking 11th in the majors in homers and fifth in walks. And while Arizona can normally slug with New York, David Peterson represents an awful matchup for this Diamondbacks lineup.

David Peterson has gone Over this number just two times across his six starts and Under in four straight. However, that's moving the price on this in our favor, and I'd rather project his command with a sample over 2+ seasons, which has him walking 0.40 batters per inning. The Diamondbacks also walk at the second-highest rate in baseball. Another great angle here is familiarity. Peterson just saw Arizona, and that edge usually lies with the batters, who get to see the lefty again with the last start fresh in their minds.
