Detroit @ Chicago preview

Guaranteed Rate Field

Last Meeting ( Sep 13, 2012 ) Detroit 0, Chi. White Sox 0

The Chicago White Sox seek to extend their lead in the American League Central to three games Monday when they host the Detroit Tigers in a makeup game due to Thursday’s postponement. Detroit won two of three in Chicago last week and is 12-5 against the White Sox this season. However, the Tigers blew a ninth-inning lead in losing to Cleveland on Sunday to prevent the opportunity of tying Chicago for first on Monday.

Chicago’s Adam Dunn is 4-for-7 in two games since returning from an oblique injury. Dunn hit his 39th homer in Sunday’s victory against Minnesota but has struggled against Detroit this season, batting .217 with three homers in 46 at-bats. Detroit center field Austin Jackson hopes to return after missing Sunday’s game with knee soreness one day after he crashed into an outfield wall. Miguel Cabrera smashed a three-homer to up his season totals to 38 homers and 123 RBIs. Cabrera has belted five homers against Chicago this season. This is the last meeting between the two clubs in the regular season.

Quintana had a solid showing in beating Detroit seven days ago. He allowed one run and seven hits in 7 2/3 innings to snap a four-start winless streak. Quintana yielded 12 runs in just five innings over his two previous starts before turning it around in his first career outing against Detroit.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
