Minnesota @ Chicago preview
Guaranteed Rate Field
Last Meeting ( Sep 4, 2012 ) Minnesota 18, Chi. White Sox 9
After setting what will likely become one of the more forgettable offensive records in franchise history, the Chicago White Sox will turn their attention to winning the rubber match of their three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon. The White Sox hold a one-game lead over the Detroit Tigers despite getting mauled by the Twins 18-9 on Tuesday night. The embarrassing rout took the luster off a team-record 10 doubles hit by the White Sox.Dewayne Wise had a pair of RBI doubles and did double duty by pitching a scoreless ninth inning after the Twins turned the game into a slaughter with a seven-run second and 10-run fifth inning. Shortstop Eduardo Escobar, acquired from Chicago in the Francisco Liriano trade, had a stellar debut with Minnesota. Called up from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Escobar was in the middle of both big rallies and finished with two hits and three RBIs.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH P.J. Walters (2-2, 5.40 ERA) vs. White Sox RH Jake Peavy (9-10, 3.28)
Walters makes his first start since being sidelined nearly three months with inflammation in his right shoulder. He went 0-1 in his last four starts before going on the shelf. Walters' last victory came was at Chicago on May 22, when he allowed two runs and struck out a season-high eight in his first career complete game.
Peavy is winless in his last five starts (0-3) and struggled last time out against Detroit, allowing six runs on nine hits in six-plus innings.
