Miami @ New York preview

Citi Field

Last Meeting ( Aug 7, 2012 ) Miami 4, NY Mets 2

Jose Reyes thought he'd receive a better reaction from the Citi Field faithful as the Miami Marlins visited New York to begin their second series of the season. Well, the former Mets shortstop was booed just as lustily as he was earlier in 2012. Reyes and his mates had the last laugh on Tuesday after he extended his career-high hitting streak to 25 games and the Marlins went on to post a 4-2 triumph.

New York has plummeted in the standings - and is riding an eight-game home losing skid. Ruben Tejada is certainly doing his part as he extended his career-high hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the third inning. Speaking of 12-game hitting streaks, Carlos Lee is also brandishing one as his RBI single opened the scoring on Tuesday.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Nathan Eovaldi (2-7, 4.66 ERA) vs. Mets RH Chris Young (3-5, 4.22)

After a brilliant effort in his debut with Miami, Eovladi was blitzed for six runs on eight hits in two innings in a 6-1 loss to Atlanta on Thursday. The 22-year-old has faced New York once this season, permitting one run and striking out seven in a no-decision. Eovaldi is 0-1 in his brief career versus the Mets.

Young snapped a four-game losing skid with a sizzling seven-inning effort versus San Francisco on Thursday. The 33-year-old kept the ball in the park for the first time in five outings and didn't issue a walk in the process.

WALK-OFFS

1. Reyes can match Emilio Bonifacio for second place in franchise history if he records a hit on Wednesday. Luis Castillo holds the club mark with 35, set in 2002. Reyes, who is nursing a sore hand, is just 1-for-12 in his career versus Young.

2. New York's Daniel Murphy led off the fifth inning with a homer. He is 3-for-3 in his career versus Eovaldi.

3. Miami's Giancarlo Stanton was reinstated from the disabled list and returned to the lineup for the first time since July 7. He had a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
