It’s a battle of the big spenders on Friday as Wrexham chase their first home league win of the season against a Birmingham City team they know well from last year’s League One showdowns.

These two clubs combined to spend more than $50M this summer to fuel a Premier League push, and my Wrexham vs. Birmingham predictions expect the attacking talent to shine at Stok Cae Ras.

My Wrexham vs Birmingham best bet: Over 2.5 (+100 at Sports Interaction)

For most newly promoted teams, the prospect of a relegation battle is entirely logical, but Wrexham and Birmingham City aren’t most teams. They’ve positioned themselves on the fast track to the Premier League promised land — and given those lofty expectations, the first chunk of this Championship season has been bumpy.

The Blues enter this matchup in 12th place, with the Red Dragons three spots behind them, and while the final result on Friday feels like a toss-up, I’m betting that goals will be on the menu.

Birmingham are coming off a 2-2 draw against Sheffield in midweek, thanks to a late Demarai Gray equalizer, while Wrexham have cashed the Over 2.5 in seven of their 11 outings this season.

These clubs have invested heavily in their attacks, with the visitors splashing out on Jay Stansfield last year and Wrexham adding Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore in the offseason. Meanwhile, their defenses haven’t been nearly as impressive.

The Red Dragons aren’t just looking for their first home league victory of the season — they’re also chasing a first clean sheet at Stok Cae Ras this campaign. However, Phil Parkinson’s men should create chances of their own against a Blues team that conceded three goals against Coventry in their last road outing.

Wrexham vs Birmingham same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5

Jay Stansfield anytime goalscorer

Nathan Broadhead 1+ shots on target

Stansfield bagged his third Championship goal of the season on Tuesday, and he found the net twice against Wrexham last September in a League One meeting. With Wrexham still having shaky spells at the back, look for Stansfield to show no mercy when chances come his way.

This could also be another opportunity for Broadhead to demonstrate his value to the hosts. Earlier this week, he came off the bench to score an equalizer for the Red Dragons against Leicester — and that goal, plus strikes in the Carabao Cup, means he’s pushing for a bigger role on Friday.
