It’s tough to think of any matchup between the USA and Canada as a mere exhibition game, so don’t be fooled by the “friendly” tag for tonight’s clash at Audi Field.

For both teams, these fixtures act as a measuring stick, and my USA vs. Canada predictions for Wednesday, July 2, expect a tight contest with goals to be at a premium.

With a plus-money return on the total goals market, you'd be silly to pass up tonight's free betting picks

USA vs Canada picks and predictions

My USA vs Canada best bet: Under 2.5 goals (+107 at bet365)

This Allstate Continental Clásico exhibition game serves as the finale for the USA women’s summer schedule, but I don't expect many fireworks on the pitch against a Canadian squad that continues to show impressive resolve in putting “Dronegate” in the rearview mirror.

Though the USWNT reeled off back-to-back 4-0 victories in the past week, this will be a different test, with Canada well-versed on how to frustrate their long-time rivals. Casey Stoney’s team rolled to a 4-1 win over Costa Rica on Friday, but I’m expecting a revised tactical plan tonight, with a greater emphasis on disrupting the Americans’ rhythm.

That makes the Under on 2.5 goals an attractive play at plus odds. Though their last meeting finished 2-2, this time the USA will be turning to backup options in attack, with Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson, and Trinity Rodman all unavailable, and the Canadians have a strong backline, led by Vanessa Gilles.

If Canada adopts a 4-5-1 formation, chances could come at a premium, and it’ll be a big ask for Jessie Fleming and Adriana Leon to get through all their defensive duties and still provide support to a lone striker.

With temperatures in the low 80s at kickoff, look for this battle to take on a slow pace and be settled by one moment of magic.

USA vs Canada same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 2.5

USA moneyline

Under 9.5 corners

It may not be pretty, but I’m still favoring the Americans to make the telling breakthrough here, so the USA moneyline is a natural addition for my SGP. After all, they’re 53-4-9 all-time against Canada and will be backed by home support in Washington DC.

A low corner count also fits with the stalemate script, so I’m grabbing this Under and banking on the heat and frequent substitutions to stifle both teams in the final third tonight.
