New York City FC vs
Orlando City SC
Pick: NYCFC (-118)
Orlando City has played two extremely good halves of soccer. Unfortunately, they’ve come in different matches and have been countered by two horrible halves.
New York City FC has looked solid in two road fixtures thus far, and hasn’t lost to Orlando City at home since 2017.
D.C. United vs
Inter Miami FC
Pick: Inter Miami (-139)
Inter Miami threw caution to the wind at halftime against Orlando and went all-out on the attack. 45 minutes and four goals later, Lionel Messi was asking the opposing bench if they wanted his autograph.
DC United’s defense has looked solid, but it’s going to be exposed in this one.
Atlanta United FC vs
Real Salt Lake
Pick: Atlanta United (+110)
Real Salt Lake has taken one point in total from their last seven away fixtures. Meanwhile, Atlanta United FC has won each of its last six home openers.
Trends don’t always matter, but Atlanta looked much improved in the second half last week.
Charlotte FC vs
Austin FC
Pick: Austin FC (+240)
Charlotte FC doesn’t seem right early on. They’re not creating enough chances, and they’ve already allowed 4.6 xG.
Austin FC's attack looks dangerous at the moment, and they rank third in shots on target. I like them at this price.
Columbus Crew SC vs
Chicago Fire
Pick: Columbus (+105)
The Chicago Fire has taken just five points — all draws — in their last 17 visits to Columbus. The Columbus Crew hasn’t been great, but they should’ve beaten Sporting KC.
I can’t trust the Fire until I see them do something against a competitive side.
Philadelphia Union vs
San Jose Earthquakes
Pick: Draw (+280)
The San Jose Earthquakes look good so far, but they’ve also beaten two pretty poor teams. The Philadelphia Union hasn’t looked terrible, but they have two red cards and zero points through two matches.
A price of +290 for a draw holds value in a match where opposing styles could cancel each other out.
Sporting Kansas City vs
San Diego FC
Pick: San Diego FC (-120)
Sporting Kansas City surprised a lot of folks by pulling out a 2-2 draw with the Crew last week.
However, they were fortunate that Columbus could only convert two of seven big chances. They’ll be punished by a San Diego FC attack that has scored 7 goals on just 2.5 xG.
Nashville SC vs
Minnesota United FC
Pick: Nashville (-133)
A fortunate bounce allowed Minnesota United FC to pick up its first win of the season against Cincinnati.
Nashville SC is a different beast playing at home, and Sam Surridge should be back in the lineup.
St. Louis CITY SC vs
Seattle Sounders FC
Pick: Seattle Sounders FC (+110)
Maybe someday Seattle Sounders FC will win in Utah.
But what better way to overcome another frustrating defeat than taking on a St. Louis City SC side that can’t keep the ball or generate chances? I like the Sounders to rebound in this one.
Colorado Rapids vs
LA Galaxy
Pick: LA Galaxy (+170)
Joao Klauss is in terrific form early on, spearheading an attack that leads the MLS with nine shots on target per match.
I trust the Los Angeles Galaxy more, even on the road.
LAFC vs
FC Dallas
Pick: LAFC (-278)
It took two weeks, but the oddsmakers have finally adjusted the pricing for LAFC. They’ve opened with two strong victories, two clean sheets, and a tremendous attacking rhythm.
Now they face an FC Dallas side that has created only three big chances through their first two outings.
Portland Timbers vs
Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps FC (+100)
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC should open up the Cascadia Cup with an early advantage.
Portland surrenders far too many efforts on goal, and the Whitecaps are a team that will capitalize on those opportunities.
New York Red Bulls vs
CF Montreal
Pick: New York Red Bulls (-182)
I will continue to say it every chance I get — this CF Montreal team is awful. Horrifically awful.
They trailed 1-0 when Chicago went to 10 men on 56 minutes, and they lost 3-0 while picking up just 0.10 xG. The New York Red Bulls might score five in this one.
FC Cincinnati vs
Toronto FC
Pick: FC Cincinnati (-125)
Evander could make his return for FC Cincinnati after leaving early in the season opener.
They may not need him against a Toronto FC side that has already allowed three goals in each of the first two matches.
