Inter Miami and Palmeiras each seek to move on in the FIFA Club World Cup when they meet on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium

The Herons gave themselves a strong chance with their comeback win over Porto. Palmeiras are also in a great position, with each team going through were they to simply draw.

Lionel Messi will be the player everyone has their eyes on, and my Inter Miami vs. Palmeiras predictions and FIFA Club World Cup free picks explain why he’s your best path to profit on Monday, June 23.

Inter Miami vs Palmeiras picks and predictions

My Inter Miami vs Palmeiras best bet: Lionel Messi Over 0.5 SOT from outside the box (+120 at bet365)

Lionel Messi has scored in four of his last five matches for Inter Miami. And while that’s to be expected, it’s how he’s scored them that may surprise you.

That’s because he’s scored a goal from outside the box, either via free kick or a shot from open play, in each of those four matches. And if not for an unbelievable save in the dying seconds against Al Ahly, he’d have one in five straight.

Prior to that, the last time Messi failed to put a shot on target for Inter Miami from outside the box was in a 3-0 loss to Orlando. However, he took nine shots in that contest. Five of them came from outside the penalty area, and three of them were blocked en route to the goal.

So far in MLS play this season, Messi has taken 32 shots from outside the penalty area in 12 starts. He’s been accurate with 15 of those attempts, with three of them finding the back of the net.

In his two matches in the Club World Cup, Messi has attempted seven shots. Every single one of them has come from outside the penalty area. That includes all five attempts against Al Ahly, two of which were saved while another hit the woodwork.

Palmeiras is a side that looks to hit on the break, as they did in their 2-0 win against Al Ahly. They allowed their opponents 65% possession, and played tight compact defense allowing just eight shots. Only two of those were on target, one from outside the area and another from the very edge of the box.

The Brazilian side leads the group with four points, so they’re perfectly set up to sit back and launch counter-attacks against a suspect Inter Miami defense. If the Herons fall behind, then Messi will do what he does and begin launching from anywhere on the pitch that he can.

We don’t need him to score a goal to cash our best bet, just to put a shot inside the frame of the goal from outside the penalty area. With the odds still better than even money, this is a no-brainer for me. It’s also worth looking at Messi to score from outside the box, which has outstanding odds of +1200 at bet365.

Inter Miami vs Palmeiras same-game parlay (SGP)

Lionel Messi Over 0.5 SOT from outside the box

Lionel Messi to score anytime

Palmeiras double chance

While I will be playing Messi to score from outside the box, you have to account for possible penalty kicks as well. As such, I’ll back him to find a goal. Palmeiras has yet to concede in the competition, but they’ve also not truly faced a forward as dangerous as him.

The Brazilian teams have yet to lose in any of their eight matches so far in the Club World Cup, with being in midseason form appearing to help them so far.

A draw sees both teams through though, while a win guarantees Palmeiras the top spot in the group. Given Inter Miami’s defensive woes, I’ll back Palmeiras to get the draw at the very least.
