Nevada legislature ousts lawmaker, as "personal matters" cited
By Laura Zuckerman
(Reuters) - The Nevada State Assembly voted on Thursday to expel Democratic Assemblyman Steven Brooks, in the first ouster of its kind in the history of the state legislature.
Brooks had been on administrative leave from the Assembly since just one week after the legislature convened on February 4, after he was arrested twice in separate incidents in January and February.
In January, Brooks was jailed on suspicion of leveling a death threat against the incoming Assembly speaker, Marilyn Kirkpatrick, a Democrat from North Las Vegas.
Police say they found Brooks driving around with a
handgun and 41 rounds of ammunition when they arrested him on January

Did he have so many rounds to be a liberal rebel or because he lacked confidence of his shooting skill?

its been a rough month for bob... and the month of march last year was humiliating when woop got pwned by obama in the bracket contest... perhaps we should cut him a break...
im sure the "bail outs" and the childish antics should be coming shortly as they always do after a cut/paste job like this

You all know if this lawmaker had an R by his name you'd be all over this. Further proclaiming a need for tighter gun regulations and all.
You guys are all so deeply partisan that you can't even see the irony of a liberal charged with crimes involving a gun and large amounts of ammo.
Also, one fellow liberal voted to keep him on as a lawmaker despite him threatening the life of a fellow liberal lawmaker simply because the poor little fella didn't get chosen to be on a committee.
And some keep wondering why they get labelled as liberals.
Don't like the material so you label this as desperate. Despicable person you are!

Quite honestly I would care less if this guy had an "R" next to his name. If you had not posted this, I would never have known this story even existed.
I'm all for the second amendment and people being able to own a effin grenade launcher if they feel they need that to protect their homes.
You're just sooooo hell bent on making everyone fall into one of two categories that you don't realize that some people might not adhere to every single policy that their supposed party supports.
I'm for gun rights, I'm for happy marriage, I'm for fiscal conservatism, I'm for more states rights, I'm for getting rid of welfare in most cases(mentally ill), I think Zimmerman provoked Martin.
Where ever the hell that puts me in the political spectrum then so be it. If that makes me some "evil liberal" then fine, I will wear the tag. I'm willing to pay that price for being able to think for myself and not just follow some sort of conservative or liberal doctrine like you want to.
Not everyone falls into one of the two categories you so desperately want to put them into. No wonder you liked Bush so much, you probably ate that "with us or against us" bullshit like it was a juicy steak.
Now it's time for the obligatory emoticons that everyone seems to like using.

Why did you feel the need to post anything at all in post #3?
I find many threads to be boring but rarely feel the need to post that I feel that way in every thread that I feel is boring.
P.S. Even if Zimmerman did provoke Trayvon, what is the law against provoking? Can you find me a statute against provoking?
Is it the same as murdering someone?
I'm not going down this Martin/Zimmerman road again. Neither of us are changing our positions. I'm ok with that, it's a difference of opinion.
As far as post 3, I just wanted it to be known that Darkhorse wasn't alone in his opinion on the subject.
I'm sure with a little bit of research we could find all sorts of hypocritical acts, both illegal and legal, by politicians on both sides of the spectrum at the state and local level.
Who cares? Honestly, do you really care about this guy or what he did? Or is this more of a "hey look at me, I'm pointing out the flaws of one individual on the other side"?
It would be more of a story if the guy was out protesting guns and gun owner ship on a regular basis. The story didn't say he had that stance though. Just because he carries the letter "D" next to his name, doesn't necessarily mean that he wants to restrict gun ownership. If he does that link that article to your story to help your "irony" claim.
Otherwise.....who cares?

Something tells me that if this were a story about a right wing senator forcing his 17 year old daughter to get an abortion you would find the irony easily and it wouldn't make you yawn.

Go back and read our previous thread on this. I never said I would convict him and I don't think any just would because there isn't enough evidence. I completely agree with you on that part.
Jesus fucking Christ, why can't you use some common sense and read my post, actually read them and not assume what I'm saying.
You're condescending (sp?) tone and way of dealing with people astounds me sometimes. You're not smarter than everyone on here, and you're not always teaching people lessons like you think you're doing I.E. when you thought you were teaching me something about capital gains tax after I made a joking remark about Romney's tax people, in a conversation that didn't even involve you. I even balanced the sides by including Buffet in a later remark.
You win Bowl, you win. You got me to address some bullshit that has nothing to do with the op. You hooked me bowl, you win that battle.
Back to the topic, I guess I should have made it clear that I'm pro choice as well. Do you want me to run down all of my beliefs so you can throw some more hypotheticals at me?
If some UNITED STATES SENATOR, not some random state legislature that I've never heard of, forced his 17 year old daughter to get an abortion after years of preaching against it, I would be very interested in it. However, being pro choice, that's their business and if she were raped I wouldn't be critical of it at all.
Anymore random hypotheticals you want to throw out there? Maybe you want to ask me what I would think if Obama defended the White House from terrorist with an AR-15 with a 30 round clip? How about if any Republican senator found the cure for cancer?
Go ahead Bowl, it's your thread do what you want with it.

I should congratulate you Bowl. I didn't think it was possible to settle the Martin/Zim case by posting an article about a Democratic Nevada Assemblyman, but you managed to defy the odds.
Nice work (handshake)

It's like you're trying to prove my point for me Bowl.
"If you think there is no irony in this thread then you'd be wrong."
Why no just come out and say it Bowl? Just say it: if you don't agree with me then you're wrong. If your opinion differs from mine, you're wrong.
There, I sad it for you. It wasn't that hard.
Please enlighten me further on Mr.....hold on.....what's his name again....oh yeah Mr. Brooks.
I didnt look into his voting history or background. I only went off the article you referenced. The one that made no mention of his stance on....well....anything really. Let alone his position on guns.
Btw, I wasn't trying to start shlt either. YOU were the one that brought conflict into the thread (see how that works?).
Also, I don't post yawners in almost any thread ever. Aside from the shamrock, handshake and occasional money bag sign, I don't use emoticons.
