I HAVE DONE SOME THOROUGH RESEARCH ON THE NET ON BRACKETBUSTER GAMES AND IN
PARTICULAR THE GAMES I LIKE. I CANNOT TAKE FIRST HAND CREDIT FOR A LOT OF THE
MATERIAL I AM PROVIDING AS I GOT A LOT FROM
READING MANY SITES INCLUDING OTHER MESSAGE BOARDS AND DOING A LOT OF CUTTING AND
PASTING OF OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK. I HOPE NOBODY IS OFFENDED BECAUSE IT'S NOT LIKE
THIS IS COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL AND I AM NOT USING THIS FOR A COMMERCIAL PURPOSE OR
SUBMITTING THIS AS CLASSWORK FOR A GRADE. HERE IS MY TOP PLAY OF THE DAY:
BRACKETBUSTER PLAY OF THE DAY:
4u Georgia Southern
+3.5 - Linesmakers can sometimes struggle to make lines on out
of conference games as they can get caught up in what a team is doing within
their conference. This game seems to have a bad line.
Austin Peay is the top dog in the OVC, but outside the Valley, they are
just 4-6.
Lost at Vandy 81-67
Lost at Utah State 71-68
Lost on a neutral court to Valpo 61-47
Lost at Memphis 104-82
Lost at Evansville 72-62
Lost at home to Akron 64-55
Their 4 wins were 2 against Belmont, one against Florida Gulf Coast and a 3
point road win at Middle Tenn State.
The losses at Vandy, Utah State and Memphis are excusable but the neutral
court loss to Valpo by 14, 10 point loss at lowly Evansville (8-17 this year)
and 9 point home loss to Akron (3-5 on the road this year) (return game from
last year's Bracketbuster) indicate that outside of the OVC, Peay isn't that
strong.
Peay is a weak defensive team. They rank 335th in Effective field goal
percentage allowed, 322 in 3 point percentage allowed and 330th in 2 point
percentage allowed. In their 6 out of conference lined games this year, AP has
allowed an Offensive Efficiency of 114.6.
In last year's Bracketbuster, the Governors were blasted by Akron
74-57.
Georgia Southern has played solid ball outside of the
conference. They are 9-3 outside of the Southern Conference and have had some
solid wins beating Cleveland State on a neutral court 72-20
and beating UAB on a neutral court 59-57. UAB is 17-8
and showed their mettle in a one point loss last weekend to undefeated Memphis
and Cleveland State is having a solid year at 17-11. Equally as impressive were
two of their losses, a 52-49 loss in Jacksonville to the SEC's Florida Gators
(19-7 this season) and an spirited effort against Rhode Island (20-5 this
season) in an 85-80 loss, a game where they trailed 31-8 out of the gate and
actually took the lead late. GS plays solid defense. They rank 97th in Defensive
Efficiency, 80th in 3 point defense, 60th in Block Shot percentage and 26th in
Steal percentage. They held Cleveland State to an OE of 98, UAB to 80 and
Florida to 82.3. In their 5 out of conference lined games, they averaged a 97.1
DE allowed.
The Southern Conference is simply better than the Ohio
Valley. Here are quality out of conference games for Southern Conference
teams:
Appalachian beat Arkansas on a neutral
74-67.
Tenn Chatt destoryed Murray State (Ohio Valley) at home
74-50.
Tenn Chatt loss to Tennessee 76-70
UNC Greensboro won at Georgia Tech 83-74
Davidson lost to North Carolina by 4, to Duke by 6, to
UCLA by 12 and to NC STate by 1
Collegew of Charleston beat Temple by 3
Wofford won at Purdye by
3.
The Ohio Valley has been pitiful out of
conference. Here are some notable OVC out of conference efforts this
year:

Here is today's question of the day?
What is the combined record of all Ohio Valley Conference teams in out of
conference games against teams that actually have lines on the board? Answer:
10-46!!!!!!!!
The only quality wins out of conference by the OVC were
by Tenn Tech by 17 over Oregon State and by 2 by Tennessee State at
Illinois.
