people who defend Penn St and live in denial of the monstrosities committed, or who still hold Joe Pa up on a pedestal... are completely ridiculous!

Most people who have been defending Penn State football have had to defend it because it's been made an issue by the media, the sheep, and events like today.  This isn't a football issue (and definitely not an NCAA issue) but unfortunately the focus has been taken away from what really matters.  So the more that the sheep/media keep making this a football issue, the more people who realize that it's not will keep defending the football program.  At any point the sheep/media are welcome to divert their attentions back to what really matters in this whole scandal, and the football issues will go away.  However, I don't see that happening.  The sheep/media are having one big party today.  I guarantee, however, there's one important group not having a party today---the victims.

You are correct that this is not a football or NCAA issue, this is a criminally negligent issue and the university needs to pay a price much higher than this.  Of course the victims are not "having a party", the university of Penn State got a slap on the wrist.

Greg Webb, a four-star recruit in the class of 2013, has rescinded his verbal commitment to Penn State and has instead decided to play football at the University of North Carolina. Webb is 6'2", 290 pounds and a consensus top-10 defensive tackle. He's received more than 30 scholarship offers and was considered a big get for Penn State at the time of his commitment.

 Why such venom towards thisguyiswise? He didn't commit any atrocities against young boys. He is just a college football fan that is very passionate towards his team, which I can respect. He tried to stay hopeful that this thing would pass like some kind of quick hitting tropical storm that leaves a large swath of damage but rebuilding can begin at the next day's dawn. He probably knew in his heart that that wasn't going to be the case and I'm sure that right about now he is suffering greatly at the realization that things will NEVER be the same in Happy Valley ever again. The fact that the team that he dearly loves has been rendered insignificant and will forever be linked to the most heinous scandal in the history of sports is punishment enough, no need to pile on.

he left because his parents moved to north carolina and dejuan drennon was not offered a scholarship at penn state and he wanted to play with him

drennon is his best friend, webb tore his acl this summer

his family released a statement said because of his move last week and drennon going to unc, nothing to do with this case.

its too bad that current players / coaches etc have to take the punishment for the crimes of those in the past. Just a sad situation.
