I pulled this article off ESPN Rumors section...note the statement in bold. I also noticed a rumor saying that the Os are interested in Justin Dueschner and could possible take the Os over the Yankees because his son lives closer to Baltimore. That would be sweet if we land Guerro, Dueschner and trade one of our outfielders for a starter.....Os will really be rock n rolling....
There are conflicting rumors as to the future of Vladimir Guerrero who could end up like Jermaine Dye if he isn't careful.
Dye had high hopes for a lucrative multi-year deal following the 2009 season, but never lowered his demands and found himself out of work for all of 2010. Guerrero boasts some impressive credentials after a solid season for the Rangers, but his options continue to dwindle, reports MLB.com's John Schlegel.
Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com, however, tweeted Thursday that Guerrero was close to finding a new home and listed the Orioles, Angels and Rays as possible destinations.
While Rojas stated that Baltimore has the "inside track" on Guerrero, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun says the report was certainly news to the Orioles, who haven?t been aggressively pursuing Guerrero.
One notable option came off the board when Jim Thome re-signed with the Twins last week.
A return to Texas is unlikely now that the Rangers have signed Adrian Beltre and will slide Michael Young into the DH role. Team president Nolan Ryan said in Thursday's Star Telegram that there is nothing "on the horizon" for the Rangers and doubts a player such as Guerrero would settle for a part-time role at reduced salary.
Tampa Bay seems to be the most likely landing spot, but not at the $6.5 million figure that Vlad earned in Texas last season. The new benchmark could be the one-year, $3 million figure Thome received from the Twins.
