I actually thought Missouri could be in the Final Four if they could get past Florida. Many had them winning it all. WoW! Just Wow!

What a night in the Tournament. If there is a perfect bracket left somebody is cheating. I looked on Yahoo and somebody actually picked Lehigh over Duke. Ok I will give you that because maybe you had a bunch of brackets and you took a chance. But Norfolk St over mighty Missouri? Are you kidding me? This is unprecedented. If you thought this was going to be a chalk walk this year. This is a cold shower friends. We have 6 double digit seeds playing in the round of 32 plus Gonzaga who had to play in West Virginia's back yard after flying clear across the country. This is why we love the tournament.

I am personally having a great tournament so far on Bovada and my brackets. Historically I have a strong opening day which I did this year and flop out on Friday. Well needless to say this year I have had plenty of company on Friday flops as very few people picked these upsets. For the people who picked one upset they didn't picked the other so it's been a great start for me. I actually picked USF to beat Temple. Temple IMO was highly overrated so I took a chance on USF and made it. I love VCU so I'm looking good on those picks. Missouri and Duke hurt me but misery loves company and so I have plenty of company with those picks. However the difference with me is I didn't have those teams in my Final Four like some people. 44 people in our big contest had Missouri in their Final Four. So sorry to hear that. (evil laugh) I had Xavier on Survivor and they squeaked by so I'm still alive on that. If you're in the tournament with us my name is the Raining 3's. Major props to Crushalot for figuring that out. I'm currently tied for 5th out of 102 people. Let's see how this weekend goes.
I'm seriously considering going to the games this weekend here in Portland on Saturday. I may have to bribed my wife as we have some sort of function on Saturday to attend. Originally the games were going to be in the morning but when the final schedule came out they switched it to the evening. Uh oh now we have a problem. If I do it will be me against the scalpers. My record against scalpers is something you have to witness to really appreciate. I have taken the art of negotiation to a new level with the scalpers on the West Coast and Minnesota. I want everybody to continue to enjoy the March Madness and hopefully represent us well and bring home the money!

Ok boys wish me luck. Mrs. Smooth has excused me from tonight's social engagement so I'm free to pursue tickets to the tournament. I'm headed to the Rose Garden here in Portland and going into battle. Of course I have already put money on the games just to add to the excitement. Back up plan if I don't score tickets I hit the sports bars downtown and watch it there.

Mission accomplished! I was able to get a ticket to the tournament last night below market price. Unbelievable what they were asking for. These guys wanted as much as $200 per ticket. So sorry but I'm not that guy. After talking to several people a guy walks over and says how much would I offer him for his ticket. I told him $60 he says "no way". I say "well you said make an offer and I made one. How much do you want for it?" He says $100. I say "no way" "I'm not a tourist and I'm not paying $100" So he then offers it to me for face value which was $82 I said no thanks I can do better. With that move he went down to $70 so we had a deal. Not one of my better deals but it was definitely a sellers market at the Rose Garden so I took it.

What good games they were too. That first game was amazing. I went 7-1 on my brackets yesterday so I'm in contention in the big contest with the boys in Minnesota. VCU played awesome defense but going 12 1/2 minutes scoring only 4 points killed them. I tip my hat to Indiana for hanging tough and pulling it out a win. Of course I had to lay some money on VCU seeing how I was gonna be there in person plus I had them on Survivor. So even though VCU lost on brackets I pocket some change and keep Surviving at the same time.
The 2nd game didn't have the same intensity but a nice run by New Mexico late made it exciting. Peyton Siva is from Seattle so this was as close to a home game he was gonna get. So it was a good day for SmoothD hanging out by myself at the tournament. Awesome!

Hey, Smooth! Thanks for the kind words, my brother, even if "legendary" may be taking it a bit far. Lol ! I will try to post more often. Even when I am losing, it is still all about the camaraderie and we have that in spades. People should always post here regardless of their streaks and winning or losing trends.When I read that you were getting to go to the Big Dance, I had complete faith that you would get a ticket for a fair price. I am so glad that you not only got to go, but also got in and had a great time to boot. Major props go out to the Missus for giving you the green light.
Mrs. Smooth has earned the title of Missus Awesome! Great call on VCU, man! They did not advance, but they kept it really close and looked as though they might take Indiana out of contention with that menacing press. The Hoosiers have faced plenty of great defenses coming out of the Big Ten, so they were ready. I didn't know that about Louisville's Peyton Siva. Know wonder he was so fired up last night. As if playing in the Tournament wasn't enough, he was also trying to impress the Northwest faithful. Good for him! The Cardinal's are turning some heads now, not unlike UConn last year.

For today, I have gone with USF -2.5 . They are really impressing me and I have nothing to lose since Vandy killed my modest two gamer yesterday. Ohio represents a major step down in competition for the Bulls from Temple in my opinion. South Florida stunned the Owls, much to Crushalot's chagrin [ Sorry Crush :( ], and I believe that they should stomp the Bobcats this evening, as well, provided that they maintain their intense focus and continue to lock foes down with that savage D.

The Hangover of the 1st weekend of March Madness is over. I hope that at least some brackets are alive. I have been wounded but so has everybody else in my tournaments so it's become a war of attrition at this point. Going forward with the Sweet 16 the road has become easier for some teams. I think Marquette is fortunate that they don't have to play Missouri. They should handle Florida easily. Kansas also is very fortunate that Georgetown is gone. Not that NC state will be a cake walk but I think Purdue got Kansas attention and they will be ready for NC state. My predictions of Kentucky, Michigan St, and Ohio St are looking good and I expect the cream of the crop to start to rise.

Good job, Smooth. I'm having a tough time on the NIT, CBI, etc. Hopefully can turn the tide tomorrow on the tourney.... Hit that crazy finish yesterday with Oregon on that last second tip, but thats about it.....

I like the Orange, Crush. Good luck with them. I passed on them, perhaps foolishly.
I missed out on the Florida Gators when they were at +2, so I will wait and see if the line comes back around to that again before tip. I just believe that the Gators will CHOMP on Murray State tonight.
They should not be dogs here, in my opinion, and I think they will win it outright. Maybe I just love the SEC too much, huh? Lol
Two more picks that I love tonight are:
A) Cincinnati Bearcats +7.5 (I think the Bearcats are tough enough too bang the boards with even the vaunted Buckeyes, so it comes down too shooting. They will not be bullied! Besides, that is a lot of points for the Buckeyes to cover in a physical type of game.)
B) NBA- Milwaukee Bucks -3.5 (get it at -3 if you can) The Bucks are a high scoring machine with the addition of Monta Ellis! He is clicking with Brandon Jennings and Drew Gooden has been solid also. Boston has been scraping by lately and will really have to expend some energy tonight too keep pace with the running Bucks. If it gets out of hand early, I expect Doc Rivers to call off the old dogs to get some rest for tomorrow night bout with the Sixers at Philly.
