Some of the stores that are closing...will be converted to e-commerce fulfillment centers and laid off employees will have
the opportunity to reapply for positions at their e-commerce distribution centers..

Oh I get all of that. I am just saying it looks bad is all. I would've waited. But maybe they think it looks better to announce that they are closing the failing stores and rewarding the performing ones. I am just saying I do not know how the average person looks at it.

Haven't needed a job since I retired when I was 55. Worked my whole life but still found time to get my college degree in 2015.

I'm sorry but I'm with Midnight on this. I don't want a temporary bonus. I want a permanent wage increase so I can handle the cost of living going up every year. That's much more important. Hell, my boss tossed me a random bonus today of 50 bucks and said she might give me a raise, but she might also be full of ssss----hhh---it, like most people generally are.
I've already stated on here that pretty much the only thing that'd get me to vote for Trump is a clear indication wages have increased. People can argue the minimum wage all they want but wages need to increase for Americans in some fashion and rather soon because I think some people are getting desperate. I suspect too many people are living beyond their means, which I suppose would indicate a possible housing crash at some point. I'm just some schmuck, though, so I'm probably wrong and I wouldn't worry about it. I better be wrong because I believe a housing crash was part of what contributed to a financial collapse before.

My dad was a carpenter, worked his butt off, retired @ 65 & was dead due to cancer @ 67. At the cemetery, I promised my wife this wasn't going to happen to us.
Invested my 401k after being fired (I deserved it) got very lucky, got another good job with annual bonuses. Got to the point where I hated what I was doing in a big company (technology management), always having to negotiate at budget time for my team's technical training & more T&E so they didn't have to fly home on Friday nights or fly to a location on Sunday thus leaving their families on their personal time. Everyone was salaried. I'd give them flex time off but it still sucked. Too many pseudo intellects coming out of college with just book knowledge & friends of local pastors getting jobs they were not qualified to perform. Lost a deserved promotion to one of these knuckleheads & decided I was done.
During this time I was taking a number of online courses & got tons of credits for knowledge already learned. I think they call them CLEP exams. Took me 6 years to finally graduate & pass Algebra. I actually told the Algebra professor @ Palm Beach Community college I would pave her driveway or paint here freaking house to pass. I had failed it twice previously. When I passed I brought a plant to her office in a way of saying thanks. She cried saying no student had ever done that in her 25 yrs of teaching.

How come nobody ever complains about the $hitty pay and working conditions at Amazon? The CEO is the richest person in the nation. The employees make $12-13 an hour.

These cuts were not budget positive at all, SO what programs will get cut? The corporate freebies in the face of millions of dollars of political contributions and insider intervention or the programs that the common guy who has no representation or campaign contributions IOU's to call on?
