My father was a Paratrooper Ist then 6th Airbourne


My father fought at Arnhem Holland. Paratrooper Ist Airbourne.1174 British Airbourne died there,5903 were captured or missing, 1892 were safely withdrawn. 453 Dutch civilians died, forcibally driven out of their homes in Arnhem by the Germans. The battle is dramatized in the 1977 movie A Bridge Too Far.

Grand father fought in the First World War he was a motor cycle dispatch rider carrying orders between trench command posts, high mortality post, they were an obvious target for enemy fire.

My Great Grand father known to all as " Ginger Leake" fought with the British Army in the Boer wars against the Orange Free State & The South African Republic ( Transvaal Republic)

My Father-in-Law, fought in the 2nd World War.He was a soldier in the Argyll & Southern Highlanders ( Princess Louise's Regiment), part of the Scottish Division of the British Army.

The first engagement was the battle of Sidi Barani, part of the North Africa Campaign ( desert war).

He was wounded in this thier first battle and took no further part in the war, due to the severity of those injuries.

I think what we have here is a very severe case of Stockholm Syndrome. Even though cruel medical experiments were inflicted upon GBP during the Cold War, he feels a deep bond towards the medical community nonetheless.

On a serious side note, you can't be heckled too badly because your family were brave blokes.
