The Edmonton Oilers are finally back on home ice following a seven-game road trip and playing 16 of their first 24 on the highway.

Edmonton welcomes the Dallas Stars to Rogers Place on Tuesday, November 25, and star Leon Draisaitl headlines my Stars vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks

Stars vs Oilers prediction

Stars vs Oilers Best bet: Leon Draisaitl Over 2.5 shots on goal (-125)

Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl has recorded three or more shots in four of his past six games for 16 total on 32 attempts while logging a healthy 22:55 of ice time per game — including 3:00 on the power play.

He’s also been on the ice for a high-end 57.5% shot share and has taken 58.4% of his faceoffs in the offensive zone at 5-on-5.

Additionally, I’m expecting an uptick in shot volume from Draisaitl moving forward. His 6.56 shots per 60 minutes are well below his 9.47 mark from last season, and he’s dropped from the 97th percentile in shots on goal among forwards to the 90th.

There are a lot of balls in the air, but the Oilers playing 16 of their first 24 games on the highway is a tough way to start the year.

At first glance, a date with the Dallas Stars might not look like a favorable matchup. However, they're dealing with multiple injuries and have the second-lowest Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5 on the road, having surrendered a healthy 28.6 shots per game.

Dallas also just allowed 36 shots to the Vancouver Canucks and 33 to the Calgary Flames in the first two stops of this four-game road trip.

Stars vs Oilers same-game parlay

In addition to Dallas dealing with injuries to multiple key contributors, the Stars also sport an unsustainably high PDO (103.0) at 5-on-5. Edmonton checks in with the third-lowest mark (96.2), which includes the lowest 5-on-5 team save percentage in the league (.879).

I’m expecting improved goaltending and shooting luck to pave the way for the Oilers to begin stacking wins, with the dreadful opening schedule in the rearview mirror.

Additionally, as highlighted, Dallas has been caved in at 5-on-5 and has a splash of statistical correction coming.
