Best Rangers vs Panthers SGP for Tuesday
The NHL’s fourth-leading scorer in the regular season, New York Rangers star Artemi Panarin has just one assist on his resume in this series. He went pointless for the second time in the three games as the Rangers escaped with a 5-4 OT decision in Game 3.
New York’s dearth of unsung scoring heroes has overshadowed Panarin’s recent slump (looking at you Barclay Goodrow and Alexis Lafreniere — more on the latter below) — but at some point, stars will have to be stars.
Panarin has not scored since Game 3 against the Hurricanes in Round 2. That’s a stretch of six games, officially the longest goal-scoring drought of his dream season, topping two regular-season stretches where he went goalless for five games.
It’s also his longest scoring drought against the Florida Panthers since joining the Rangers, as Panarin went back-to-back games without a tally in the 2022-23 season. He had three goals against them in the regular season. Give me the plus-money odds for him to get back on track tonight.
As mentioned, Alexis Lafreniere had himself a Game 3, potting two goals — one absolute highlight-reel beauty — giving him his second two-goal game of these playoffs. He also took a playoff-best six shots on net, and his shots on goal line in Game 4 is set at a reasonable 2.5.
We’ll wrap this with Matthew Tkachuk, who is tied for fourth in scoring in these playoffs and will have to be excellent for the Panthers to even up this series. He picked up a pair of helpers in the Game 3 loss, giving him two multi-point efforts in three games in this series.
He’s been a bunch scorer in the playoffs, potting at least two points in seven of Florida’s 14 games this postseason. Including the regular season, Tkachuk now has four multi-point games against the Rangers this season. A fifth would help even this series up, turning it into a best-of-three affair.
