Our best NHL player props for Wednesday, April 8
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Macklin Celebrini Over 3.5 shots on goal
Macklin Celebrini ranks 10th in the league this season in shots on goal, averaging 3.53 per game. It makes total sense, considering he’s posted 107 points in Year 2.
The San Jose star has cashed the Over in shots on target in four of his last six, and he finished with three SOG in the two others — just a tad below tonight’s total.
The Sharks take on the Oilers here, and Celebrini has 10 SOG against them across three meetings. More importantly, the Oilers have been struggling lately, losing two straight and allowing over 30 SOG per game in both contests.
Celebrini should take advantage.

Prop #2: Rasmus Dahlin Over 0.5 assists
Rasmus Dahlin has been a driving force behind the Sabres’ terrific campaign as they gear up for the playoffs.
The 25-year-old has scored 18 goals and registered 52 assists in 2025-26. Dahlin has hit the Over in helpers in two straight, and he also notched 11 assists in March.
The Swede has a helper in two meetings with the Rangers, whom the Sabres face tonight. He’s also compiled seven SOG in those matchups, which means the opportunities in the offensive end have been there.
Dahlin is a top-line defenseman for Buffalo, and he also quarterbacks the PP1.

Prop #3: John Tavares anytime goal
John Tavares has been one of the few bright spots for the struggling Maple Leafs this season, scoring 30 goals.
He’s found the back of the net in three straight contests, bagging four goals during that span. He most recently scored on Saturday against the Kings.
Tavares has 18 of his goals at home in 38 appearances, and the Leafs welcome the Capitals to town tonight. While he’s yet to score this season against them, the veteran has generated seven SOG, so he’s had lots of chances to bury the puck.
Add in that Washington just gave up eight goals to the lowly Rangers, and this bet screams value.
