Our best NHL player props for Tuesday, December 30
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Jack Hughes Over 3.5 shots on goal
The Toronto Maple Leafs are depleted with injuries and already allow the second-most shots per game (31.2). They also rank 30th in Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5, so this is a cushy matchup for the New Jersey Devils and star center Jack Hughes.
Of course, the Maple Leafs allow the second-most shots per game to opposing centers, too.
While he’s been held to just six shots through three games since returning to action, Hughes has 16 attempts while averaging 20:57 of ice time. I also value him sporting a high-end 55.6 CF% and 55% shot share at 5-on-5 for the year.

Prop #2: Logan Stankoven Over 0.5 points
Carolina Hurricanes winger Logan Stankoven has primarily skated alongside Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov in top-line duty out of the holiday break, and the trio has been an absolute force at 5-on-5 with a 75.7 Corsi For percentage and 85.1 expected goals percentage.
So, with the Pittsburgh Penguins allowing the most goals per game (4.18) during an active 2-5-4 slump, I like Stankoven to hit the scoresheet tonight.

Prop #3: Matthew Schaefer Over 2.5 shots on goal
New York Islanders star Matthew Schaefer ranks in the 99th percentile in shots on goal among defensemen, and the Chicago Blackhawks allow the most shots per game to the position and fourth-most overall, while also ranking 27th in Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5.
The rookie blueliner has averaged 26:01 of ice time out of the holiday break, and Schaefer also quarterbacks the No. 1 power-play unit.
He should also see ample man-advantage opportunities with Chicago, averaging the second-most shorthanded time per game, too.
